This 2025 GMC Sierra HD Paint Color Is No Longer Available To Order

The 2025 GMC Sierra HD drops in as the sixth model year for the fifth-gen pickup, following up on the refreshed 2024 model year with only minor updates and changes. Now, however, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD is no longer available to order in a certain exterior paint color.

As it turns out, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD is no longer available to order in White Frost Tricoat (color code G1W). White Frost Tricoat will remain unavailable for the 2025 GMC Sierra HD for the remainder of the model year, and the color has been built out since the week of April 28th, 2025. As such, buyers interested in grabbing a new Sierra HD in White Frost Tricoat will have to settle for either a unit in dealer inventory or a unit already in transit.

The 2025 GMC Sierra HD is no longer available in White Frost Tricoat.

White Frost Tricoat was previously offered exclusively for SLT, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trim levels, priced at $1,095. The color was not available for Pro, SLE, AT4, or AT4X trims.

Although White Frost Tricoat is no longer available to order, 2025 GMC Sierra HD buyers can still spec the pickup in one of the following (relevant paint color codes listed in parentheses):

  • Cardinal Red (G7C)
  • Downpour Metallic (GXP)
  • Onyx Black (GBA)
  • Sterling Metallic (GXD)
  • Summit White (GAZ)
  • Thunderstorm Gray (GNO)
  • Titanium Rush Metallic (G6M)
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat (GNT)

Looking ahead, White Frost Tricoat will likely be replaced by Glacier White Tricoat (paint code G4J) in conjunction with the 2026 model year. As it turns out, Glacier White Tricoat is already making its way to other 2026-model-year GMC vehicles, as well as GM’s other brands under different names. For example, the color is called Polar White Tricoat at Chevy, Vibrant White Tricoat at Cadillac, and Iridescent White Tricoat at Buick.

Compared to the 2024 model year, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD no longer offers Redwood Metallic as an exterior color option (paint code G48). The 2025 model year also debuts a few wheel-related changes, including the addition of one new wheel set and the deletion of three other wheel sets offered previously. The new wheel option is called the 20-inch Bright face wheels with dark painted pockets (RPO code Q7J).

Mechanically, the 2025 Sierra HD remains unchanged, offering the naturally aspirated 6.6L L8T V8 gasoline engine as standard, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax is optional, rated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired exclusively with an Allison-branded GM 10-speed automatic transmission, with configurations available in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive.

The start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 GMC Sierra HD is scheduled for August 11th, 2025.

  1. Shouldn’t be long before the only colors you can get a gm product in is black or white.

  2. Every color carries a $495 charge for some reason. It has gotten ridiculous and out of hand for some of these upgrade charges for just a standard paint color.

  3. Nausea comes to mind when look Iooking at gm colors. Start to fire some people. And stop charging for paint colors. How bad is that!
