Tesla Cybertruck Looks A Little Better With GMC Badges

The Tesla Cybertruck has been a controversial car ever since its unveiling in 2019. People either love or hate the aesthetics as much as they love or hate Elon Musk’s politics. Some owners love their Cybertrucks just the way they came from the Giga Texas factory, but many are getting clever with customizations like wraps and emblems to make them stand out even more than they already do.

Someone spotted this interesting Tesla Cybertruck with New York plates and posted photos on social media that are getting some attention. The owner slapped some GMC emblems on the flat front of the truck and on the tailgate. The red letters on the tailgate appear to be bigger than the ones on the front. The Tesla owner also added Denali badges to the front doors and red recovery hooks to the front of the truck.

We don’t think the owner of this Cybertruck is trying to fool anyone into thinking this Tesla is really a GMC. We’ve seen other Teslas with badges from other automakers now that many left-leaning Tesla owners are trying to distance themselves from the brand they once loved while still keeping their EVs.

If this were a real GM enthusiast, they likely would’ve just bought one of the three electric pickup trucks available from GM, which are all at a price point similar to the Tesla Cybertruck. There’s the Chevy Silverado EV, the most affordable of the three, and two GMC options: the GMC Sierra EV and GMC Hummer EV Pickup. The Hummer EV is one of the few direct rivals to the Tesla Cybertruck in the niche world of expensive and off-road-ready full-size electric trucks with performance as insane as their aesthetics.

In other recent Tesla Cybertruck news, a new entry-level single-motor, RWD model is now available, lowering the truck’s starting price to the low $70k range. This is still a far cry from the $40k starting price that was originally promised, but it brings the Cybertruck’s pricing a little more in line with the Chevy Silverado EV. Also, it appears that the range extender battery option that goes in the bed is no longer available, limiting the truck’s max range to 350 miles.

  1. Hard hitting journalism. I guess reporting on start-stop features being removed by EPA and CAFE standards are too low hanging of fruit to report on.

  2. They already had an extensive article about fixing automatic start stop a few days ago.

    1. I can understand wanting to distance yourself from Musk, Tesla, and anything to do with the current authoritarian administration, but I don’t think the GMC badge does the trick. Good try though.

      1. What they really need is lettering that spells “eyesore”.

    2. I’m sure the GMC badge won’t help. Its a…unique design. A design only Tesla would come up with. Yeah no. If you really wanna distance yourself from Musk, GM has 3 solid electric trucks that look much better than this door wedge.

    3. Agreed and certainly people are crazy. No clue how angry the left is when it comes to a “vehicle”

  5. They must really hate GMC to want to soil GM’s brand like that.

If you need to play wannabe, put a Rolls Royce grille or something on it.

  7. Please don’t insult GMC or for that matter any other car manufacturer.
If you bought a Cyber truck from that scumbag owner of Tesla you need to deal with the consequences.

    1. While I don’t disagree with you in people should vote with their wallets more, many people bought these (and other Teslas) before the guy joined politics. You can’t fault people for that and even less gives you the right to destroy their property. Not everyone can just trade in a vehicle on a whim. I love my XT5, but if I hated it, I wouldn’t be able to trade it in just like that as I have a 6 year loan on it. I’d trade it in and Cadillacs less than stellar resale value would leave me in the red. So you can’t be telling people to just trade it in.

  8. Nothing would make this kitchen sink more appealing. And I’ve seen all sorts of paint alterations done to these in my neck of the woods. The only alteration I seen that makes this atrocious vehicle easier to stomach was a dark red paint job that looked really pretty. But the Sierra EV has an OEM color like it and wears it better.

  9. To Cory, many owners of Tesla must regret very much their choice of vehicle. Boy, for a wise business man, did musk chose the wrong horse who is TTTT(Trumpy, trump, tariffs, turmoils and chaos.
