Some Cadillac Escalade IQ Units Are Missing Their First Responders Service Label

Earlier this month, General Motors issued a pair of new Service Updates addressing a critical labeling error on select units of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ.

The issue stems from the “First Responder Emergency Cut Loop” label, which, in some cases, was either misplaced or omitted entirely. This error could mislead emergency personnel during a crash, and may even pose a safety risk.

The two new Service Updates, tagged as N252503100 and N242451390-03, were both released on May 6th, 2025. The bulletins state that on some units of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, the emergency cut loop label was incorrectly applied to the 12-volt battery negative cable. This label is supposed to indicate where first responders can safely disable the vehicle’s electrical system during an emergency situation, such as a crash or fire. However, the label should instead be applied to the high-voltage service lockout harness, not the low-voltage battery.

If the label is in the incorrect location, first responders may mistakenly cut the wrong cable, which could leave the vehicle’s high-voltage system active and lead to a risk of electric shock, fire, or injury.

To rectify the issue, authorized Cadillac EV dealerships are instructed to inspect affected vehicles and if the emergency label is found on the 12V battery cable, a technician will remove the label and apply it the correct high-voltage harness. If the label is missing, a new one will be applied. GM estimates the inspection and fix will take about 10 minutes to complete.

GM Authority initially reported on this labeling issue back in August of 2024 following the release of Service Update N242451390, which applies to the Chevy Silverado EV. The newly issued bulletins expand on that original notice, although the total number of impacted vehicles has yet to be disclosed. For now, this issue may also impact units of the 2024 through 2025 Chevy Silverado EV, 2022 through 2025 GMC Hummer EV, and 2024 through 2025 GMC Sierra EV.

  2. Yes, it’s important this white label with firefighter helmet/axe logo is applied on correct wire…in case any emergency/firefighter need to find it. In case they ever encounter a Chevy BrightDrop ZEVO 600/410 van during emergency, this label is located behind the driver’s black left-side mirror (must remove it to access this wire) hope it’ll help firefighters with knowledge where to cut.
