General Motors has issued a new Customer Satisfaction Program for the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing to address a potential issue with the vehicle’s engine oil plug, which may not be properly seated. Although there is no immediate safety concern associated with the program, if the issue is left unaddressed, it could potentially lead to performance or reliability problems down the road. The new Customer Satisfaction Program only applies to the CT5-V Blackwing’s 2025 model year. It is currently unclear how many units may be affected by this issue.
The new Customer Satisfaction program is tagged as N252503990, and instructs dealers to inspect the oil pan pickup tube plug and, if necessary, press it into the correct position. The repair does not require any replacement parts, but should only be performed by an authorized GM service technician.
If the plug is already seated to the correct depth, as indicated by a visible counterbore line, no action is needed. However, if the line is not visible, the technician is instructed to use a a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter, length extension, socket, and prybar to press the plug further into the oil pan, while also ensuring that the plug is not pressed too deeply.
This program will remain in effect until May 31st, 2027, and covers the repair at no charge to customers. It applies to new, used, GM Certified Pre-Owned, courtesy vehicles, and dealer inventory. Any vehicles affected by the program must be inspected and corrected before being sold or traded. GM will also notify current owners by mail with a letter explaining the issue and instructions on how to schedule a service appointment.
For reference, the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is equipped as standard with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which is rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. Engine output is routed through either the GM six-speed manual transmission as standard or the GM 10-speed automatic as optional, with rear-wheel-drive offered as the exclusive drive type. The GM Alpha 2 platform provides the underpinnings, while vehicle production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Michigan.
