Oscar Mayer is headed to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first-ever “Wienie 500,” set to take place Friday, May 23rd, just days before the 2025 Indy 500. The event will mark the first time in over a decade in which all six of the brand’s famous Wienermobiles will gather in one location. This time, however, it won’t be for a parade or photo op, but rather, to go bun-to-bun in a competitive race.
Each of the 27-foot-long rolling hot dogs are powered by a 300-horsepower GM 6.0L V8 engine, and will be uniquely customized for the event to represent different American regions. The different wienermobiles will include the Chi Dog representing the Midwest, the New York Dog representing the East, the Slaw Dog representing the Southeast, the Sonoran Dog representing the South West, the Chili Dog representing the South, and the Seattle Dog representing the Northwest. The drivers, also known as Hotdoggers, will don custom racing suits and compete for glory in the “Wiener’s Circle,” including a condiment-flavored victory celebration.

The Wienie 500 will be broadcast live at 2 p.m. ET via the Fox Sports app and @INDYCARonFOX social media channels, while highlights will be featured during the Indy 500 pre-race coverage on Fox. Fans can also join the fun through a promotional partnership with DraftKings, which is hosting a free-to-play pool at DraftKings.com/wienie500, where participants can predict the race’s outcome for a chance to win a share of $10,000.

“The Indy 500 marks the unofficial kickoff of summer and the start of hot dog season,” said brand communications director at Oscar Mayer, Kelsey Rice. “As a brand known for sparking smiles in disarmingly delightful ways, it’s only fitting that we bring a race of epic proportions to the Speedway and celebrate a timeless tradition: delicious meats and a little friendly competition to kick off a summer of wieners.”

Looks like fun!
I wish that could be there…
I wonder if our Dear Leader will fly his new Jumbo over head.
He should. He’s the head weenie.
I think you should look in the mirror 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Next year race the surviving Futurliners? 😀 (All of them combined will be less than the cost of running one IndyCar so why not.)
