Mattel Creations is giving Chevy fans a shot at owning the legendary Corvette Grand Sport – at least in brick form. The Mattel Brick Shop is offering this fully buildable Hot Wheels Corvette Grand Sport model, presented in 1:16 scale and filled with cool details. The new kit is part of the Mattel Brick Shop Elite Series and is now available for pre-order, with shipments scheduled to kick off on or before December 1st, 2025 – just in time for Christmas.
Of course, the original Corvette Grand Sport traces its roots to the early 1960s when GM engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov set out to challenge European dominance at Le Mans. Developed as a lightweight, track-focused version of the second-generation Corvette C2, the Grand Sport was initially intended for a production run of 125 units to meet FIA homologation rules. However, GM’s official withdrawal from racing limited the project to just five vehicles. Despite the brevity of its program lifecycle, the Corvette Grand Sport earned a place in motorsport lore for its performance and rarity, and it remains one of the most iconic and collectible Corvettes ever built.
Now, the new Brick Shop Corvette Grand Sport kit looks to honor that racing legacy. The model features detailed bodywork and realistic proportions, and includes working components such as an opening hood and doors, plus front wheels that turn with the steering wheel. You’ll also find metallic side exhaust pipes, plus a wide array of customization parts, extra decals, and even metal wheel covers, allowing builders to personalize their Grand Sport as they see fit.
The set also includes a matching 1:64 scale die-cast Corvette Grand Sport and a signature plate, giving a nod to its exclusivity.
The Corvette Grand Sport set is recommended for builders aged 10 years and up. Pricing is set $50, with pre-orders available now on the Mattel Creations website.
