A new video advertisement for the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is throwing shade at the Chevy Tahoe, likening the Tahoe to flying commercial, and the QX80 to flying private.
The video ad is about 30 seconds long and starts with the 2025 Infiniti QX80 lined up on a runway, with the driver and a passenger closing the doors. As the front lighting signatures power on, the door handles are sucked in flush with the door panels. The camera then pulls back to reveal the QX80’s front fascia as the engine starts to rev.
“QX80, you are cleared for take-off,” we hear as the SUV starts to move away.
We then watch as the Infiniti accelerates smoothly down the runway, its twin-turbocharged V6 engine climbing in revs. After a few glory shots of the Infiniti, we get a very brief look out the driver’s side window, where we spot a few black SUVs parked on the side of the runway – including the Chevy Tahoe.
“Why go commercial,” we hear the narrator say as the driver in the Infiniti QX80 driver smiles smugly, “when you can have all the comforts of private?”
The passenger sinks back into her seat as the Infiniti continues to accelerate.
“The all-new 2025 Infiniti QX80 – the most luxurious way to travel,” the narrator says.
Check out the full 30-second video advertisement right here:
The 2025 Infiniti QX80 represents the third generation of Infiniti’s flagship full-size SUV, and is motivated by a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine based on the same twin-turbo powerplant found under the hood of the now-discontinued Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400. Output is rated at 450 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
Pricing starts at $82,450 for the base Pure RWD variant, ranging up to $110,595 for the Autograph 4WD. Standard features for the base model include 20-inch wheels, a 14-speaker stereo, ProPILOT Assist as well as and heated first- and second-row seating.

Funny because there’s a million more tahoes,Yukons, and Escalades on the road than these qx80s 😂. Not luxurious enough to come after the Escalade I see
The only roasting Infiniti should be doing to is Carlos Ghosn who practically stripped the division into nothing and made it irrelevant. Very sad.
They didn’t go after Escalade, or Yukon… no they went after their Armada competitor. That’s hilarious. They sound confident.
Hilarious, Chevrolet will probably be around in five years. Infiniti won’t.
I do appreciate the overshadow in the commercial lol. However pending on what article you read, GM’s full size SUV lineup owns anywhere from 60-67% of the market share. So for every full size SUV sold, 2 out of 3 of them are GM product. Enough said.
Come back in 20 years and check the residual value. The Nissan will be in the scrap heap.
I’ll take the Chevy/GMC/Cadillac any day of the week.
Infiniti has another V6 twin turbo that provides no cool down or slow down technology for after-shut-down for the still-spinning, oil-deprived turbo bearings. No thanks. I’d rather keep our 2018 6.2L Yukon that is delivering a very respectable 22-24 mpg on the local hill-country highways on 91 0ctane, no-ethanol Conoco gas and has Torque and HP immediately useable with no expensive turbos to wear out.
What does the director of the commercial say here? “Ok, you are driving a basic B vehicle. Put on your smug faces, and… ACTION!”
I’ll just buy two Buick Enclaves instead.
You would have to fly private with the Datsun. You’re the only person buying one.
Comparing the Infiniti to the Tahoe. Why not the Escalade?
The base price of a High Country (highest trim level) is $84K.
The base price of a QC80 Pure (lowest trim) is $82K.
Seems to me like they are comparing apples and oranges.
Personally, I like the Tahoe better even without taking the price into account.
I can get a diesel, I like the style better (just my opinion) and it is not a “I’m a rich guy with unlimited money to spend on a car” vehicle.
The 6.2 has had its issues that are completely unacceptable.
The diesel needs that belt changed out at 200K miles.
But I still prefer it.
Just my opinions.
