Here’s When 2026 GMC Yukon Production Is Scheduled To Start

Following a mid-cycle refresh rolling out for the 2025 model year, the 2026 GMC Yukon will debut the fifth-generation SUV’s sixth model year with only relatively minor revisions. Now, GM Authority has learned when production of the 2026 GMC Yukon will officially get under way.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 GMC Yukon is scheduled to begin on September 8th, 2025. Dealers will be able to begin configuring the vehicle online and saving orders on July 10th, 2025.

The 2026 GMC Yukon debuts only minor changes.

While details regarding updates for the 2026 model year remain limited, there is some speculation that a new exterior paint option may be introduced. Specifically, the 2026 GMC Yukon may replace White Frost Tricoat (paint code G1W) with Glacier White Tricoat (G4J), as is the case with the 2026 GMC Terrain and possibly the 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 as well.

For those who may be unaware, the 2025 Yukon introduced several major changes, including a redesigned exterior with a bold, truck-inspired look. The 2025-model-year refresh also debuted the new Elevation and AT4 Ultimate trim levels, with the Denali Ultimate trim showcasing the model’s first-ever factory-spec 24-inch wheels.

Inside, the 2025 Yukon now offers a vertically oriented 16.8-inch infotainment display, while rear passengers benefit from an available eight-inch climate touchscreen and optional panoramic sunroof. Other standout interior features include 16-way powered, heated, and ventilated front seats with massage functions, as well as an Executive Seating package that provides enhanced passenger space with heated and ventilated rear captain’s chairs.

Mechanically, the GMC Yukon offers three engine options, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine (355 horsepower, 383 pound-feet of torque), the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine (420 horsepower, 460 pound-feet of torque), and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax (305 horsepower, 495 pound-feet of torque). The Yukon rides on the GM T1 platform and is assembled at the GM Arlington Assembly plant located in Texas.
