Here’s When 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 Production Is Scheduled To Start

The 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 debuts only minor updates over the preceding 2025 Silverado, ushering in the final model year for the current fourth-generation light-duty pickup. Now, GM Authority has learned when production of the 2026 Silverado 1500 will officially get underway.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 is scheduled to kick off on July 7th, 2025. Production will initially focus on Double Cab and Crew Cab models, with Regular Cab units hitting production a bit later on July 14th, 2025. Dealers can start configuring the vehicle online on May 1st, 2025, while the first orders will be processed on May 15th.

Production of the 2026 Chevy Silverado kicks off this summer.

Assembly of the 2026 Silverado 1500 will continue to take place at three North American General Motors facilities, namely Fort Wayne Assembly in Indiana, Silao Assembly in Guanajuato, Mexico, and Oshawa Assembly in Ontario, Canada.

With the 2026-model-year Silverado serving primarily as a carryover from the preceding 2025 Chevy Silverado, a range of major updates are in reserve for the forthcoming 2027 Chevy Silverado. As GM Authority has covered extensively in the past, the next-generation 2027 Chevy Silverado will cradle the new sixth-generation GM Small Block V8 gasoline engine, which is set to offer significant performance improvements and a 10-percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to the current Small Block V8.

The upcoming Silverado is also expected to offer a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain option, per GM’s goal to reintroduce PHEV options to its North American lineup, while the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine and TurboMax turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine are both expected to carry over more or less unchanged from the 2026 model year.

Beneath a new (seemingly antenna-less) exterior design, the new fifth-generation Silverado will ride on the updated T1-2 platform, which will serve as an evolution of the current T1 architecture. The next-gen pickup will also introduce a thoroughly redesigned cabin with the latest in GM infotainment technologies.
