The 2026 Cadillac Optiq is entering its second model year of production. It debuted in 2025 as an all-new model and the smallest and most affordable EV in the Cadillac lineup. Slotted below the midsize Lyriq, the compact Optiq is the luxury analog to the Chevy Equinox EV, with its premium interior and standard dual-motor powertrain making it a real luxury EV.
Now, GM Authority has learned when production will begin for the 2026 Cadillac Optiq. The start of regular production (or SORP) is currently scheduled for August 25th, 2025. Dealers will be able to start configuring vehicles online and saving orders on June 26th, while the first orders will be processed starting on July 24th.
Although it just came out as a new model for 2025, we’re expecting a few changes to the 2026 Cadillac Optiq. One is a renamed trim structure reflecting the bigger Cadillac Escalade IQ. The Escalade IQ used to have Luxury 1, Sport 1, Luxury 2, and Sport 2 trim levels, but they were renamed to Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury, and Premium Sport for 2026. The Optiq could make the same change.
We also know that the Crystal White Tricoat (paint code G1W) will be replaced by Vibrant White Tricoat (G4J). Several GM models across all four brands are making this same change for the 2026 model year but with differently branded paint names. We confirmed earlier this month that Crystal White Tricoat is no longer available to order.
But the biggest news for the 2026 Cadillac Optiq is that it will introduce the high-performance Optiq-V. Official details like specs will come with a full unveiling this summer, and it will likely produce at least 400 horsepower. “Cadillac has confirmed the Optiq has earned the V-Series badge,” GM stated last month. “The 2026 Optiq-V will be part of Cadillac’s fifth generation of the V-Series portfolio, elevating the brand’s performance offering. Building on Optiq’s agile drive, Cadillac engineers delivered a unique package prioritizing precision, a dynamic suspension and tight steering for an exhilarating driving experience!”
Not long after GM confirmed the 2026 Cadillac Optiq-V for production and showed some teaser images, an undisguised example was spotted in the wild. It has a decidedly sportier aesthetic than the tamer versions of the Optiq, but performance specs and pricing are still mysteries.
The 2026 Cadillac Optiq will continue to be produced at the GM Ramos Arizpe assembly plant in Mexico, underpinned by the GM BEV3 platform.
