The 2025 Cadillac Lyriq continues to introduce incremental changes to the luxury EV crossover for the third model year rather than remaining largely the same up to a mid-cycle refresh. The vehicle now features 24 percent fewer parts than earlier model years along with other updates.
Here, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the towing capacity for the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq, which is capable of pulling a trailer in certain configurations.
Looking first at the powertrain configuration of the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq, the vehicle has two setups across its six trim levels, including Luxury 1, Sport 1, Luxury 2, Sport 2, Luxury 3 and Sport 3. The RWD variant features a single electric motor mounted to the rear axle, providing 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque along with 314 miles of range on full charge.
The 2025 Cadillac Lyriq is also configured in AWD with two electric motors, one front and one rear. This setup has slightly reduced range at 307 miles, but cranks out 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.
Both configurations make use of GM battery and GM drive motor technologies.
Now that we have an overview of the basics, here are the towing capacities for the different trims and drivetrains of the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq:
2025 Cadillac Lyriq Towing Capacities
Model Drivetrain Two-Motor Electric Max Trailer Weight (lbs / kg) Luxury 1 RWD 0 / 0 Luxury 1 AWD 3,500 / 1,588 Sport 1 RWD 0 / 0 Sport 1 AWD 3,500 / 1,588 Luxury 2 RWD 0 / 0 Luxury 2 AWD 3,500 / 1,588 Sport 2 RWD 0 / 0 Sport 2 AWD 3,500 / 1,588 Luxury 3 RWD 0 / 0 Luxury 3 AWD 3,500 / 1,588 Sport 3 RWD 0 / 0 Sport 3 AWD 3,500 / 1,588
As can be seen from the chart, RWD variants of the 2025 Lyriq are rated at zero max trailer weight or towing capacity and should not be used for towing at all. AWD variants all have the same towing capacity at 3,500 pounds or 1,588 kilograms. The model doesn’t offer additional trailering options.
GM recommends that a new Lyriq should be driven for a minimum of 500 miles before any towing is attempted. Neglecting this break-in period can result in damage to the motors, axles, or other components. The first 500 miles of towing should then be carried out at 50 mph or less, with no full-throttle starts.
Furthermore, the owner of a 2025 Lyriq should disable the vehicle’s advanced driver automotive safety features (ADAS). These may switch off automatically when the crossover detects a trailer but should be double-checked in any case. The following features, if present, should be turned off:
- Park Assist
- Automatic Parking Assist
- Reverse Automatic Braking
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking
- Lane Change Alert
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Super Cruise
Beneath the sheet metal the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq continues to be underpinned by the GM BEV3 platform. The GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee is the site of production for the crossover.
