The Cadillac Optiq made its debut for the 2025 model year as the luxury brand’s smallest and most affordable EV. One of its highlight features is a standard AKG Studio 19-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos (RPO code UQP). However, some owners are having issues with fluttering and rattling sounds coming from their doors when the music is turned up, specifically the bass.
According to the recently issued GM Service Bulletin PIC6608, the problem is a layer of scrim, a thin woven material, between the metal speaker grille and the plastic door frame. The bulletin instructs GM technicians to remove the door trim panel to access the back side. From the back, the tech can simply pinch the layer of scrim with their fingers and pull it out through the frame behind the speaker grille.
After the scrim is removed, the tech simply reinstalls the door trim and the repair is complete. GM instructs that the process be repeated for the other front door. The service bulletin only mentions the front-door speakers, so those are presumably the only areas where fluttering and rattling sounds have been identified. No new parts are required for the repairs.
Affected units were produced between October 2024, when production began for the 2025 Cadillac Optiq, and April 17th, 2025. Optiq units built after that date presumably don’t have the problematic scrim in the front doors.
Although the Cadillac Optiq is mechanically similar to the Chevy Equinox EV, both riding on the GM BEV3 platform and being built alongside each other at the Ramos Arizpe assembly plant in Mexico, Equinox EV owners don’t have to worry about this problem. That’s because the AKG 19-speaker audio system isn’t available in the Chevy; its premium audio option is a Bose 9-speaker system.
The 2025 Cadillac Optiq was the first Cadillac model to get Dolby Atmos built-in from the factory. Cadillac has since announced that all 2026 Cadillac EVs will have Dolby Atmos, and it will be available as an over-the-air (OTA) update for the ICE-powered 2025 Escalade. Dolby Atmos tech makes audio more immersive by creating a true surround-sound experience, enhancing the luxurious experience that Cadillac EVs offer.
