The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV introduced the LT trim level, a third battery option and several new paint colors, among other features. Now, we’re checking out Silverado EV payload capacities for the 2025 model year.
All Chevy Silverado EV variants are equipped with a dual-motor setup, creating a four-wheel drivetrain, with varying output level based on trim level and configuration. The Work Truck variants (2WT, 5WT and 8WT) boast 510 horsepower and 580 pound-feet of torque, while the LT gets 645 horsepower and 765 pound-feet. The range-topping RST with the Extended Range battery pack produces 645 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque, and the RST with the Max Range battery belts out 760 horsepower and 785 pound-feet.
That being said, the 2WT and 5WT equipment levels boast a maximum payload rating of 1,750 pounds, while the 8WT makes do with a capacity of 1,400 pounds, due in part to it being equipped with the heaviest battery pack. The LT Extended Range and RST Extended Range all offer a max payload of 1,800 pounds. The RST with the Max Range battery pack is limited to 1,300 pounds. In comparison, the Silverado 1500’s payload capacity ranges from 1,550 to 2,530 pounds.

To keep items in the cargo bed in place, the Silverado EV is equipped with eight tie-down hooks. According to Chevy, the maximum load per corner is 500 pounds. It is also recommended to avoid strapping tall items against the sail panels, which are purely decorative, and against the roof spoiler, which could get damaged while hauling. It is also advised to check the vehicle’s Certification / Tire label indicating weight ratings to make sure we’re not exceeding them, as the Silverado EV payload limit includes both passengers and cargo.
Lastly, the Chevy Silverado EV is not designed to accommodate a slide-on camper, whether it exceeds the Silverado EV payload capacity or not.
As a reminder, the Silverado EV offers a driving range varying between 282 and 492 miles on a single charge, according to the chosen trim level and battery pack. The electric pickup rides on the GM BT1 vehicle platform and is built alongside the GMC Sierra EV, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, the GMC Hummer EV SUV, the Cadillac Escalade IQ and the Cadillac Escalade IQL at the Factory Zero plant in Hamtramck, Michigan.
