Hennessey Venom F5 Evolution Is Twice As Powerful As C8 Corvette ZR1

The new C8 Corvette ZR1 is wild, doling out 1,064 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 LT7 gasoline engine, making it the most powerful production-spec Vette ever created. However, these days, four-digit horsepower numbers are more or less the norm. In fact, the new Hennessey Venom F5 Evolution nearly doubles the C8 ZR1’s output.

Developed by Hennessey Special Vehicles, the Venom F5 Evolution builds on the foundation of its predecessor, the Venom F5, to become what the company calls “the world’s most powerful internal combustion-powered hypercar.”

The star of the show is the twin-turbocharged 6.6L “Fury” V8. Co-developed between Hennessey and Ilmor Engineering, this lump-of-go now features a pair of Precision 76/80 Next Gen turbochargers, Ilmor-designed billet aluminum pistons, and larger fuel injectors, with some lightweight valve covers providing the bling. Put it all together with a tank of E85 fuel, and the boosted V8 delivers an astounding 2,031 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 1,445 pound-feet of torque at 5,200 rpm. Properly applied, it’s enough giddy-up to send the Venom F5 Evolution from 0 to 200 mph in just 10.3 seconds.

Complementing this is a newly developed adaptive suspension system with adjustable driving modes, including a full-fat, track-ready “F5 Mode.” Hennessey also went about reworking the car’s aerodynamics. Guided by Formula 1 and Indycar aerodynamicist Dr. Mark Handford, the Hennessey Venom F5 Evolution now features a redesigned front splitter, underbody refinements, dive planes, and a Gurney lip spoiler, all of which work to increase high-speed stability.

For enthusiasts who plan to log longer road miles, Hennessey also offers a number of Touring upgrades, such as leather-trimmed, comfort-focused seating and even a carbon fiber drink holder.

The Evolution Package, including the high-output engine, suspension, and aero, is priced at $285,000 and can be fitted to existing Hennessey Venom F5 Coupes, Roadsters, or Revolution models. Touring additions are available for an extra charge. Orders and additional information are available directly through the Hennessey Special Vehicles website.
