General Motors’ second joint venture in the Asian country is about to officially unveil the 2026 Baojun Yep Plus, featuring significant technical improvements that will reinforce the model’s aggressive cost-benefit proposition in the Chinese market. As a preview, the automaker revealed that the 2026 Yep Plus will get upgrades in terms of technological equipment and new batteries that will increase its range.

The 2026 Baojun Yep Plus will go on sale in China in the coming weeks, marking the third model year of Baojun’s all-electric subcompact crossover in the country, the vehicle’s sole manufacturing center worldwide. The 2026 Yep Plus’ new model year launch will come a few months early to boost the mini-utility’s performance in the face of increasing competition from Chinese brands and the start of exports as the all-new Chevy Spark EUV.

While its exterior design remains exactly the same as the initial version launched in April of last year, the 2026 Baojun Yep Plus will debut an updated interior with a new infotainment system that increases its touchscreen size from 10.25 to 12.8 inches, while maintaining the 8.8-inch digital instrument panel. The new system will feature the latest version of the SGMW operating system, while the rear seat has been modified to fit three people.

Additionally, the 2026 Baojun Yep Plus’ all-electric powertrain will receive new battery packs in addition to the current 42 kWh configuration, which offers a range of 401 kilometers or 249 miles based on the CLTC cycle. Specifically, the 2026 Yep Plus will be offered with a new base 32 kWh battery pack, allowing a range of 301 kilometers or 187 miles, and a new 54 kWh pack providing 501 kilometers or 311 miles on a single charge.

The 2026 Baojun Yep Plus will be officially unveiled in China in the coming days and will go on sale simultaneously in early summer. Significant technical upgrades to the 2026 Yep Plus will increase its competitiveness and customer appeal in a market crowded with new energy vehicle (NEV) offerings, where the crossover stands out with its distinctive boxy design and its unique mini off-road proposition in the Asian country.

  1. Why can’t this Land Rover Bronco knock off be sold here? I would never buy a Land Rover (too expensive and different to maintain) nor a Bronco (the old man’s Anti-Semitic Dearborn Independent).
