General Motors recently revised the plan and pricing structure for its OnStar connected vehicle services suite, affecting the monthly rates and feature list across each subscription tier.
The latest updates follow significant infotainment changes between the 2024 and 2025 model years. To note, 2025-model-year GM vehicles are now equipped as standard with the eight-year OnStar Basics package, which includes built-in voice assistance, real-time traffic and navigation, and Automatic Crash response. By comparison, 2024-model-year GM vehicles were equipped with the three-year OnStar Remote Access package, which included several features through GM myBrand mobile apps (myChevrolet, myGMC, etc.), but did not include emergency or security services.
For the 2024 model year, the OnStar One Super Cruise plan was priced at $79.99 per month, offering a full suite of connected services including Automatic Crash Response, OnStar Guardian App, Roadside Assistance, and a robust in-vehicle entertainment package. The Super Cruise add-on was available for a separate $25.00 monthly fee across all plans except the OnStar One plan. Additional tiers included Safety & Security at $32.99, Connect Plus at $24.99, and Connect at $14.99 per month. Entertainment and internet-related features, such as video streaming, in-vehicle Wi-Fi, navigation, and remote commands, were locked into their own plans, while safety features were locked into separate plans, with the highest-tier plans bringing both entertainment and safety features together.
Now, 2025-model-year GM vehicles feature significantly reduced pricing across all subscription tiers. The revised OnStar One Super Cruise plan now costs $64.99 per month, a $15 decrease from the 2024 rate, while the OnStar One plan is priced at $34.99 per month, down $15 as well. The other tiers also see price reductions, with the Safety & Security dropping to $22.99, Connect Plus dropping to $19.99, and the basic Connect plan now priced at just $9.99. The Super Cruise feature is once again offered as a $25.00 monthly add-on for any plan below the top Super Cruise tier (except OnStar One).

I bought a 2002 Impala LS, a 2017 Camaro RS, a 2020 Equinox LT and a 2024 Cadillac XT4 Premium Luxury all new and to date never used the Onstar feature even during the free period. Why would anyone pay extra for this?
I traded in my 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix for a 2022 Cadillac CT5. When the on star account expired, GM called me up. Asking me if I wanted to continue their services, and sign up for an account. I told them that I didn’t use or sign up for on star in my last car I drove for 15 years, and in the 2 years you gave me a free service in my Cadillac, I didn’t use it either. Why, pray tell, would I sign up for something that I haven’t used in 17 years? Silence….
Absolutely outrageous pricing and for what?
This whole subscription extortion thing is why (after heavily supporting various GM brands, and even working in the RenCen) I canceled my Optiq order, and why I will likely not entertain buying another GM.
My plan included the remote connect feature but when they changed the plans earlier this year it stopped working. When I called OnStar they said it was because they revised the plans and my plan no longer includes that feature. They would not give me any credit for taking away a feature. I will not be renewing.
I have a 2019 Blazer RS and used the Onstar navigation last weekend. Imagine my surprise when the Suncoast Parkway toll road (SR589) here in Florida wasn’t on the map even though it opened in February 2022. When I returned from my weekend get-away, I called Onstar and was told I could update the navigation maps for $99.
When I saw the toll road wasn’t showing up, I plugged in my Android cell and as a back up, plugged in my trusty 15 yr. old Garmin that has lifetime map upgrades I purchased at the time for $49. Both the Android and Garmin showed all the new roads including the Suncoast Parkway along with Android letting me know where the cops were. So I’ll just stick with them.
I think i will be cancelling our 2 plans ,,on star has gotten us lost many times …
I think down voters to the previous comments are either GM employees or just like giving away their money for nothing.
