The GM Authority Take

After posting a healthy increase in March, GM Mexico sales suffered a notable double-digit decline in April, disrupting the company’s performance in the Latin American country and once again plunging its year-to-date figures into the red. The sales decline for GM Mexico in April represents a significant year-over-year volume reduction of 2,410 units.

Most GM Mexico models suffered significant declines in April, including the best-selling Chevy Aveo. The subcompact car saw its strong growth streak interrupted by a drop of more than 500 units in April 2025 year-over-year, though it didn’t put it into the red year-to-date. The nameplate that most influenced the overall loss was the Chevy Silverado / Cheyenne, which again lost a massive amount of volume of over 1,000 units during the month.

On a positive note, Cadillac recorded a massive sales surge, driven by the refreshed Cadillac Escalade, which is enjoying strong demand locally. Additionally, several Chevrolet models saw increased volumes during the month, including the Chevy Captiva, Chevy Groove, Chevy Tornado Van, Chevy Traverse, and the full-size SUV lineup. Several all-electric models also saw healthy sales growth, including the locally-produced Chevy Equinox EV.
