General Motors is currently enjoying strong commercial performance in Argentina, with the Chevy Tracker leading sales and brand growth in the South American country.
The automaker has just announced that the Chevy Tracker remains the main sales and growth driver for Chevrolet in the Argentine domestic market, selling in increasing numbers since the beginning of the year, allowing it to gain both volume and local market share. The Tracker consolidates its position in the resurgence of the Argentine market as the best-selling crossover in its class in the country.
“The new availability of our entire product line is making it possible for our customers to acquire the vehicle they’ve been waiting for. We offer one of the most complete product lines with features that made Chevrolet a trusted brand in the Argentine market,” said GM Argentina Commercial Director, Andrés Carfagna. “In addition, we are working to offer attractive financing options so that all customers who have been putting off purchasing their vehicle can do so,” he added.
Specifically, GM Argentina states that it sold a total of 13,995 Chevrolet vehicles during the first four months of the year, increasing its market share to 7.6 percent at the end of April – the brand’s highest in recent history in the country. Leading the list of top-selling models is the Chevy Tracker, which racked up 6,415 sales during the same period – almost half of Chevy’s total volume.
As such, the Chevy Tracker remains the undisputed sales and growth leader across the brand’s entire portfolio in Argentina, with a significant overall market share of 3.1 percent, and a 16.2-percent share in the subcompact crossover segment, which it leads. The Tracker was the best-selling model in its segment and the second most popular utility vehicle in the country during the 2024 calendar year, after leading all crossover categories in 2023.
The Chevy Tracker is the company’s only vehicle manufactured locally at the GM Alvear plant in Santa Fe province, Argentina, where it has managed to win over customers thanks to its comprehensive range of features in an affordable package that makes it one of the most balanced models in its segment. Its sales performance stands out even more considering that it has been offred unchanged since 2020, and it’s only this year that the current Tracker will receive its first update in South America.
