About Chevrolet BrightDrop
GM continues to expand the BrightDrop’s capabilities with the launch of the forthcoming 2026 model year. As previously reported, the 2026 Chevy BrightDrop lineup will introduce a third battery option, namely a 16-module pack providing 206 miles of range, slotting between the Standard Range 14-module pack with 176 miles of range and the Max Range 20-module pack with 286 miles of range.
Motor performance remains unchanged for the 2026 model year. Units of the BrightDrop 400 and 600 equipped with front-wheel drive continue to incorporate a single-motor powertrain setup generating 233 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, Chevy BrightDrop variants equipped with a dual-motor system dole out upwards of 300 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.
Production of the 2026 Chevy BrightDrop has been pushed back to October, which will take place at the GM CAMI Assembly plant in Ontario, Canada.

Come to Flint or Pontiac where these beauties are parked by the hundreds waiting for those eager buyers!
If they put the full 24 module pack in these would be a cool base for a camper van.
How does this business make sense?

They should put an ICE in it instead of $25K on the hood.
Too all the folks that criticize these large EV vans there is a need and a place for them.
In 2022 I was authorized $100k to purchase a replacement for one of my companies box trucks. This truck would be used to drive 2-4 miles daily picking up supplies at a nearby sister company. Previously in 2019 I had purchased an Isuzu forward tilt box truck and spec’d it out with a diesel and heavy duty suspension. By 2021 the battery needed replacement because of a lack of run time, the mileage really sucked and required much more fill ups than anyone anticipated, it was also noisy and stinky when idling against the dock doors.
Not that I am gloating but back in ‘22 I tried numerous times in contacting the Brightdrop folks in order to purchase one and not once did they return my emails or phone calls. I retired in 2023.
How ironic that they are now less expensive than a Chevy van. By-the-way we also had a 2012 Chevy van in our small fleet. The thing that I remember about that van is all of the paint peeling off a known problem with the gm pickups but not so much with the vans. It had about 10,000 miles on it in ten years of driving.
More money wasting from Mary Barra’s mediocre gm.
Any BrightDrop, with this $55,000 price, has more than three times the battery storage , useable 175 kwh in 20 pack,
than $55k in five units of Tesla power wall storage at 10kwh each.
Plus you get a free playhouse for the grandkids while you power the home.
