The GM Authority Take
Even though down year-over-year, Chevy Blazer sales remained sufficient to keep the midsize crossover in fourth place in its segment of 11 entries.
But that too will soon end as the ICE-powered Blazer will be dropped after the 2025 model year, leaving the midsize mainstream crossover segment to others just like crosstown rival Ford has done by dropping the Edge.
For now, though, Chevy offers a full stable of combustion-powered utilities totaling seven nameplates. That breaks out into five unibody crossovers and two body-on-frame models:
Chevy Unibody Crossovers:
Chevy Body-On-Frame SUVs
Additionally, Buick and GMC, which both compete in roughly the same space as the Bow Tie brand, each offer four utility vehicles.
Looking ahead, the all-electric Chevy Blazer EV indirectly replaces the Blazer, and together with the popular Chevy Equinox EVÂ enabled Chevy to become the fastest growing EV brand right now in the U.S.
About Chevrolet Blazer
The 2025 Chevy Blazer arrives with only a handful of small changes and updates compared to the preceding 2024 model year, including the loss of these three paint colors. Here are all the 2025 Blazer paint colors, the interior coloways, the available wheels, and five things that are new and different.
For 2025, the Blazer continues to offer two engine options, namely the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, while front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional. Maximum towing capacity is 4,500 pounds with the V6 engine and the Trailering Equipment Package.
Here are 2025 Blazer drive modes explained.

Another segment the brilliant gm management is gift wrapping to the Asians….
GM doesn’t try harder. They pack up and go home. Sad.
It’s impossible to get allocation for ICE Blazers but you can get all the EV Blazers you want. You can’t sell from an empty lot. RS AWD Blazers sell fast!
So sad! This is a very nice vehicle. I’d own one if I didn’t need the room.of a 3 row, so I bought the Traverse.
Also, GM priced this vehicle, especially the RS version to high! $50k+ when it debuted in 2019 was alittle absurd. The RS should have been mid to low $45k. A two row crossover hitting $50k is a bit much
Now if they would have gone all in right away and offered an SS version with the twin turbo 3.6L for $50k+
then thats a different story because the performance is there to justify the money, and after driving one with just the N/A 3.6L. The twin turbo would have been a rocket! What could have been……
Colorado based K5 Blazer anyone? No-brainer of the decade.
Oh yeah, the awesome sales leader that would be. With 4Runner sales falling with no competition, most people don’t want a rough riding, poor handling and mpg off road vehicle for a DD. A crossover based vehicle will and has sold much better and was the right choice.
It’s not a Blazer, it’s a disgrace, and disrespectful to even call that crossover piece of junk a Blazer.
Oh yeah, that storied history of Blazer name, lets revisit that. A decade and a half of full size half ton BOF SFA trucks, then a continue watering down to a more street oriented IFS full size along with a petite midsize IFS truck and finally the trailblazer. This wasn’t a single focus 50 year run of a name plate, nothing storied about it. Pass the name along, no big deal…
Need a 4runner, grand Cherokee competitor = blazer , bronco, wrangler competition = trailblazer think of the names blazer trailblazer one thinks off road camping not fwd mall car
Neither would sell well or be profitable enough, especially the Bronco/Wrangler competitor, that market is shrinking with two competitors in it and is a low margin line with how specialized they are to build. Some people just don’t grasp business. Yes every manufacturer would love to sell every type of every vehicle, but costs and sales won’t. Would a low riding 800hp awd truck be sweet? How about a powerful four seat convertible? Or a full size or mid size off road van? Sure, but they don’t sell. You can’t sell to car guys as they don’t buy but a fraction of what the general public does, that and is mostly nice daily drivers to commute in… There is a reason GM has been doing so well against its competitors, Mary is doing something right most of the time (she has her slip ups)m but can’t argue GM’s health compared to others with her at the helm.
Did GM expect sales to go up. They put out a notice a year and a half ago the ICE Blazer is going to be discontinued in 2025. We own a 2020 RS Blazer. Love it. WE were going to update to the latest model, but when we heard they are being discontinued we decided to keep our 2020. Every time they say a model is ending sales go down. Sad !!!
Please someone tell me where is the intelligence in telling that the car will be discontinued 1 year before ? Do Toyota or any other Japanese brand announce this ???
