The GM Authority Take
Chevrolet Korea sales suffered another substantial double-digit drop in March, resulting in a substantially lower market share in the Asian country. With this latest contraction, Chevrolet has recorded 15 consecutive months in the red in South Korea due to a limited product portfolio as well as the collapse in sales volume of the only two domestically manufactured models – the Trax and Trailblazer.
In March, all models offered by Chevy in South Korea saw notable declines between 24 and 98 percent year-over-year. As has become the norm recently, the model with the most significant decline was the Chevy Trax. The entry-level small crossover lost 388 units in volume compared to the same month in 2024, barely managing to top 1,000 deliveries in March. As such, the Trax has failed to regain the strong momentum that the second-generation model initially enjoyed in South Korea.
Similarly, the Chevy Trailblazer also continued to lose sales volume in South Korea during the third month of the year, with consistent declines for both March and the year-to-date total. Meanwhile, the imported Chevy Traverse and Chevy Tahoe SUVs suffered the largest drops of the month as local inventory of older models is depleted. Neither the all-new, third-generation Chevy Traverse nor the refreshed 2025 Chevy Tahoe have been announced for the South Korean market as of this writing.

Comments
This, along with the US tariffs makes me think it won’t be long before GM shuts down its Korea operations and sells off the factories. Even if tariffs get reduced or pulled back, I imagine the next generation of the Encore GX, Envista, TrailBlazer and Trax will be produced in the US or Mexico.
I would suggest you read Automotive News publication for the latest up to date ” POOP ”
Where it was reported just the other day. Workers at G.M. plant in Mexico. Got a
new contract and a wage “INCREASE” of 10.25 %. Starting wage is now $3.00 an hour U.S.
I do know you understand the point I am trying to make. I share understand your frustration. Being a G.M. retiree. Don*t blame G.M. They did not create the rules. The powers that be did it. HINT HINT.
