The GM Authority Take

The decline in Chevrolet Colombia sales during the first quarter deepens the bow-tie brand’s negative streak in the South American country, representing 15 consecutive months in the red. This is the result of a revamped product portfolio, which is now comprised of purely imported vehicles, causing a precipitous drop in sales volume. The performance places Chevy in fourth place among the best-selling auto brands in Colombia.

During the first quarter of 2025, most models offered by Chevrolet in Colombia were in the red compared to the same period in 2024, including the best-selling Chevy Onix. The popular subcompact car suffered the most significant drop of 36 percent, shedding a considerable 655 units during Q1 and nearly losing its spot as the brand’s best-seller. Additionally, the Chevy Tracker also suffered a notable loss of 20.5 percent, contributing to the poor overall result.

Chevrolet’s commercial truck line

However, Chevrolet’s commercial truck line saw an uptick in sales during the first quarter, adding significant volume on a year-over-year basis. All models in this Isuzu-sourced lineup now are now imported into Colombia from Japan, and the 28 percent improvement in sales volume suggests an amelioration in inventory levels. The strong performance of the Brazilian-built Chevy Colorado is also worth noting, with the midsize pickup truck posting the highest growth rate among all Chevy models during the quarter.
