Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

Cadillac Lyriq sales in Q1 2025 placed the model third among six competitors in the luxury D-crossover BEV segment when ranked by sales volume.

The Tesla Model Y vastly outperformed all contenders, something it has done since the very beginning with its first-mover advantage. However, sales of the Model Y were down 35 percent to 71,000 units. The Acura ZDX followed in second place moving 4,813 units, while the Lyriq (see running Cadillac Lyriq sales) took third as sales fell 26 percent to 4,300 units. The Audi Q6 e-tron posted 3,246 deliveries for fourth, and the Lexus RZ placed fifth as sales slipped nine percent to 1,454 deliveries. Though discontinued, the Jaguar I-Pace finished the list with 1,300 deliveries, a (somewhat bewildering) 91 percent jump.

From a segment share standpoint, the Lyriq earned a five percent share. The Model Y led with a dominant 82 percent segment share, though that was down 11 percentage points. The ZDX posted a six percent share, the Q6 e-tron held a four percent share, while the RZ and the I-PACE each earned a two percent share.

The luxury D-crossover BEV segment experienced a 26 percent contraction for 86,113 deliveries during Q1 2025.

The GM Authority Take

Cadillac Lyriq sales were in the red during Q1 2025, reversing an upward trend that had continued since its launch.

The Tesla Model Y has always dominated a space it created, but the Acura ZDX – which ironically uses GM Ultium EV technology, rides on the same BEV3 platform as the Lyriq, and is even built by GM at the Spring Hill plant alongside the Lyriq – outmuscled the Caddy.

We attribute the drop in Lyriq sales to the launch of the all-new Cadillac Optiq, which slots under the Lyriq and seems to be stealing would-be Lyriq buyers. For reference, the Optiq recorded 1,716 deliveries during Q1 2025, within striking distance of the 1,500 units that the Lyriq lost during the same timeframe.

About Cadillac Lyriq

The 2025 Cadillac Lyriq was refreshed without anyone noticing, arriving with some notable changes.

The 2025 Lyriq drops the base Tech trim level, which didn’t get these top 10 features. The 2025 Lyriq gets paint color availability changes, it offers Blue, Bronze and Red Accent Packages, the ambient lighting adds 100 new colors, and a front passenger position memory feature becomes available. However, the 2025 model drops the underhood beauty cover.

Here are the 2025 Lyriq paint colors, the interior colorways, and available wheels.

Notably, testing shows that the Cadillac Lyriq is not very energy efficient in winter even though it offers a heat pump.

Furthermore, the 2025 Lyriq also gets increased horsepower ratings and range in the U.S., and will use 24 percent fewer parts than the 2024 model.

Last fall, with a refresh likely coming at some point for the Lyriq, did GM show us an updated design?

In January, GM announced 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V specs and pricing, with the new high-performance variant of the all-electric luxury crossover featuring a dual-motor powertrain energized by a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack to produce an estimated 615 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. That catapults the Cadillac Lyriq-V from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 3.3 seconds with Velocity Max mode activated, making it 0.1 seconds quicker than the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, while the Lyriq-V soundtrack was inspired by the CT5-V Blackwing and V-Series.R.

The 2026 Lyriq-V adds back the underhood beauty cover as an option.

On an interesting note, the upcoming Chevy Blazer EV SS and Cadillac Lyriq-V have the same output.

The 2026 Lyriq-V is available in two trim levels, namely the Lyriq-V and Lyriq-V Premium. The new variant doesn’t get these two paint colors, but is offered with a carbon fiber splitter as part of an Exterior Carbon Fiber Package, and features an all-new steering wheel. Also, the 2026 Lyriq-V also offers Blue, Bronze, and Red Accent Packages.

The arrival of the 2026 Lyriq-V means the Velocity powertrain upgrade will no longer be available on the “regular” Lyriq model.

  2. Cadillac is the on and only true luxury car. Why are people buying the ZDX when its not as good as a lyriq.

  4. I would not be so quick to blame the decrease on the sales of the Optiq. There was a large increase in the sales of the Chevy Tahoe and it may also help explain some of the decrease sales of the Lyriq
