The GM Authority Take
The Cadillac CT5 was one of just three models in the green this quarter as the segment was down an average of 13 percent. The CT5 placed sixth in the sales rankings, recording nearly 4K deliveries as most entries are simply not moving that many units. BMW is the star of the show, with its two models combined accounting for more than two-fifths of all sales here. Mercedes-Benz is next, followed by Lexus and then Audi. That puts the CT5 in good company, trailing Mercedes by around 3.4K units, leading us to conclude that the CT5’s 2025 model year refresh seems to be paying off for GM. It’s also worth noting that the CT5 managed to gain segment share during Q1, growing from six to nine percent.
But the space isn’t standing still. Last year, the next-generation Audi A5 and S5 were revealed as rivals to the Cadillac CT5, with the Audi A4 being discontinued after the 2025 model year. More accurately the ICE-powered A4/S4 will be no more, as new all-electric Audis will use even numbers (A4, A6, A8) while redesigned models equipped with some form of internal combustion (ICE, MHEV, HEV, or PHEV) will wear odd numbers (like the new A5).
Cadillac will be making some big changes to its product portfolio, as there are no ICE-based replacements for the CT5 0r CT4 planned. Regardless of powertrain, the two models are the only remaining sedans that GM offers in North America. Regarding their future, Cadillac is cooking up a pair of all-electric sedans, as GM Authority exclusively reported back in 2023. In the meantime, we have confirmed that there will be a 2026 Cadillac CT5Â following the 2025 model year refresh.
About Cadillac CT5
The refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5 reveals new styling and tech, more standard safety features, and new advanced ones. Its contemporary styling includes an updated front fascia and a lower, wider front grille. Inside, the refreshed CT5 features an all-new 33-inch touchscreen with 9K resolution and a customizable user interface.
The GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system is standard on the 2025 CT5, refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5-V, and updated Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, when the latter is equipped with the optional automatic transmission. The 2025 CT5-V gets standard heated seats and steering wheel along with a revised Platinum Package. The 2025 CT5-V Blackwing gets a new Precision Package, available in manual or auto. Here’s why GM made the Precision Pack and how much it will cost.
The 2025 CT5 drops the Luxury trim level and the V Performance Package.
Here are the 2025 Cadillac CT5 paint colors, the interior colorways, and available wheels. In fact, the 2025 CT5 has quite an eccentric color palette.
Additionally, here are the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing paint colors, the interior colorways, and available wheels.
The updated 2025 CT5 is equipped as standard with the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. More power is available with the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 LGY gasoline engine, rated at 335 horsepower at 5,400 rpm and 405 pound-feet of torque at 2,350 rpm, which is optional on the Premium Luxury trim. The GM 10-speed automatic transmission handles cog swaps.
Meanwhile, the LGY engine and ten-speed automatic transmission are standard on the 2025 CT5-V but rated at 360 horsepower. The CT5-V also gets Performance Traction Management with Launch Control included as standard, along with Magnetic Ride Control and an electronic limited-slip differential.
Rear-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional on all these variants.
The refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing represents the fourth model year for the ultra high-performance luxury sedan, and a new limited-edition variant has been revealed as part of the ongoing Collector Series portfolio, namely the Le Monstre Edition. Notably, manual-equipped models lose this handy audio feature. Interestingly, the “regular” 2025 CT5 features headlights with Mondrian accents.
Meanwhile, the refreshed 2025 CT5-V Blackwing continues to be motivated by the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and the 10-speed auto is optional – both exclusively powering the rear wheels.
Launch Control with Line Lock, Magnetic Ride Control, Performance Traction Management, and Brembo front and rear brakes are all standard features.
A decade later, Cadillac still offers the choice of manual or automatic transmissions.

I’m curious if the 4 series numbers are combined for ICE and EV. If so it explains the huge jump.
How is 4er outselling the 3er?
Oh and BTW I maintain my position that CT5 like its predecessor CTS is a solid 5er E-class competitor. I wonder how it is performing against those mid-size luxury cars? I bet it actually would be one of the best selling no?
CT4 should be in the compact luxury segment
Every GM brand is showing growth and I trace this to three factors: Newly introduced Cadillac vehicles were all approved by Simcoe w/Lyriq and Enclave IQ serving as design halos making Cadillac a more attractive luxury option. Also, marketing is much improved w/Cadillac once again tweaking badge and dropping cursive script. Lastly, Cadillac offering more than competitive EVs servrs as a quality/engineering halo.
CT5 is old, however, wasn’t noticed because people didn’t look at Cadillac. Eventually, it will need a reskin which should be inspired by the ethos of Lyriq. Also, this might be a great time to reintroduce CT6. It drives like a midsizer and could attract E Class customers. CT 4 is just a reskinned ATS with little luxury value. Cadillac would be insane to cancel the XT line. They are updated in China and with small modifications have potential
CT5 is not a D segment vehicle. This tweener BS based on pricing that keeps getting pushed is misleading. The last gen CTS-V – of which the CT5 is based – was an E segment vehicle.
