Base Dodge Charger Daytona R/T EV Discontinued For 2026 Model Year

The Dodge Charger Daytona is getting a series of major updates for the 2026 model year, including deletion of the 496-horsepower R/T model. The new Dodge Charger Daytona launched for the 2024 model year with no direct rival from GM.

According to a report from Mopar Insiders, the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T EV will be dropped for the 2026 model year as a result of poor sales. The enthusiast site states that there are currently over 3,500 units of the two-door Daytona R/T available on dealer lots, while there are 1,600 units of the 670-horsepower Daytona Scat Pack currently available as well.

Speaking of the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, Stellantis is gearing up to debut a number of changes for the all-electric muscle car, including the launch of a four-door model. As such, buyers will have access to both a two-door and four-door sedan configuration, a move that’s expected to broaden its appeal.

Further updates include deletion of the Stage 1 and Stage 2 badges previously seen on Scat Pack models as the Direct Connection performance brand phases out the Stage kit program. That said, the Scat Pack will still serve up the same 670-horsepower punch, but will no longer feature the Stage kit branding.

Another change is a lower price for the 2026 Daytona Scat Pack, although exact figures have yet to be released. The Track Pack, previously equipped as standard, will be offered as an optional extra. This package includes performance-enhancing features like wider wheels, adaptive suspension, and Brembo brakes. The 2026 model will also include a Level 1 / Level 2 charging cord as standard, although Dodge has dropped the home Level 2 charger option and $600 Free2Move charging credit.

Finally, on the aesthetics side, the 2026 model year will offer a new stripe package and Gloss Black hood, along with a Satin Carbon wheel design exclusive to the “Plus” model. Production for the 2026 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack is set to begin later this month in Ontario.

  1. Why can’t we just have OPTIONS? Why are some people trying to FORCE us into 1 solution that doesn’t fit all?

I actually think the Charger looks pretty good and I think having the 2/4 door option and multiple drivetrain type options on the platform was fantastic. But you cannot dump your core fanbase/buyers. In this case, it was the muscle car/V8 crowd. You can’t give them a 6 cylinder that makes fart noises and melts catalytic converters while trying to really push them into an EV.

  2. Pay attention gm. This is about how well an electric “Camaro” would sell.

  4. Sales dropped because it is an EV, wait till the twin turbo six comes out, then sales will go up, put a hemi V8 in it, sales will go through the roof.

  6. Love everything about it but the drivetrain. If it’s got a battery larger than 12V I don’t want it.

  7. In the looks department this is a winner. In the price and drivetrain it’s a dud. I’m sure gM will ignore this and come out with an all EV Camaro anyway because Mary Barra!
