AWE Launches Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Exhaust: Video

Right from the factory, the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is designed with something of a split personality, switching from backside coddling luxury when you just want to cruise, to neck-snapping performance when you don’t. Nevertheless, some owners will inevitably want to enhance that personality with a new aftermarket exhaust system. Now, AWE is offering exactly that with its new SwitchPath catback system.

Aftermarket exhaust for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing.

As outlined in a recent feature video, the AWE SwitchPath catback exhaust for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is designed as a direct bolt-on upgrade, with no cutting or other modifications needed. The new pipes connect directly to the factory emissions equipment using OE-style flanges, and also features flex sections to reduce vibrations from the engine.

From there, the exhaust system uses three-inch T304L stainless steel piping throughout. An AWE X-pipe is included to smooth out the exhaust tone and reduce raspiness, and there are two bullet-style resonators to deliver a more refined sound profile. The kit also comes with spacers to lower the sedan’s structural brace and ensure proper clearance.

As you might expect from the name, the SwitchPath system includes active valve technology that works with the factory valve controls for a custom sound. With the valves open, exhaust gases exit directly through the back of the system for a louder, more aggressive tone, while closing the valves directs spent gases through the a resonator.

Finishing it off is a set four 4.5-inch double-walled, slash-cut exhaust tips, which can be had in either chrome silver or diamond black.

Of course, the big question here is the exhaust tone – what does the AWE catback system actually sound like? To answer that, AWE has released a demonstration video with the new system idling, revving, and accelerating. What’s more, AWE says the new pipes free up a few ponies too, with an additional three horsepower and 12 pound-feet of torque, as verified on the dyno.
