The 2026 GMC Sierra EV is in its third model year, and it’s the most significant model year since its introduction. It’s the first year that it’s no longer Denali-only, bringing much more variety to its lineup. Additionally, GM Authority has learned that it will get the GMC Digital Key (RPO BOY) as an option.
The GMC Digital Key allows owners to use their smartphones for vehicle entry and power operation. It’s slated to be standard on all trim levels and configurations. However, it won’t be available at production start. We’re expecting an eventual over-the-air update to activate the convenient tech feature.
This is one of many updates for the 2026 GMC Sierra EV. The new 2026 GMC Sierra EV introduces four new paint options and also marks the launch of two new trims: the Sierra EV Elevation and Sierra EV AT4.
The Sierra EV Elevation is the most affordable trim in the lineup, with pricing starting at $64,495 for the Standard Range battery configuration. Key features include a 16.8-inch diagonal touchscreen, a power-operated eTrunk, an After Dark interior colorway, 18-inch machine-face wheels, and an available MultiPro MidGate. DC fast charging up to 300 kW and GM Super Cruise are both optional.
The Sierra EV AT4 starts at $81,395 (Extended Range battery configuration), and is offered as the off-roader of the bunch. Highlights include two inches of extra ground clearance, standard four-wheel steering with CrabWalk, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and an exclusive Terrain Mode. The cabin features the Forest Storm interior, and Super Cruise is standard. DC fast charging up to 350 kW enables a 100-mile range boost in just 10 minutes, while maximum towing capacity is rated at 12,300 pounds.
Three different battery configurations are available across the lineup. Specific range-per-charge estimates are forthcoming. Under the skin, the GMC Sierra EV rides on the GM BT1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan. The new 2026 GMC Sierra EV will arrive in dealers this summer.

More tech for the sake of tech that no one asked for. In case of battery failure, this won’t work either. Useless for most.
This is literally a feature regularly brought up in media and forums as a strange omission for a modern vehicle.
Digital key is where it’s at. I have it on my i7. I love it.
will you still love it when you have to pay for it on a monthly subscription?
TECH EQUALS HIGHER PRICES AND PROFITS!
ALL ABOARD….On The GM Profit Train!!!😂🤣😂
all companies have to make money. it’s so funny to me that consumers act like automotive, both OEM and dealerships aren’t allowed to make money.
Does this mean it maybe available for other GM vehicles that have said they will offer the tech?
