The GMC Sierra EV made its official debut for the 2024 model year, introducing the very first all-electric iteration of GMC’s best-selling pickup truck. It remained Denali-only through the 2025 model year, but the 2026 model expands the model range to include the Elevation and AT4 trims. Now, GM Authority has learned that production of the upcoming 2026 GMC Sierra EV has been slightly delayed.
We originally reported that the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 GMC Sierra EV was scheduled for May 19th, 2025. But, according to sources familiar with the matter, that date has been pushed back to May 27th, 2025. This coincides with a similar delay in production for the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV, which has been pushed to May 29th, 2025.
Dealers have been able to submit orders since April 10th, 2025. These changes are reminders that these dates are tentative and subject to change, as is often the case with future production timelines.
The 2026 GMC Sierra EV gets something like a Y-shaped trim structure. The Elevation is the entry-level trim, and the premium Denali and rugged AT4 are similarly priced when equipped with the same battery pack. However, the Denali has a lower base price than the AT4 since you can’t get the Standard Range battery pack with the AT4 trim.
Pricing for the 2026 GMC Sierra EV (including destination charges) starts at $64,495 for the Elevation trim with the Standard Range battery, $71,795 for the Denali trim with the Standard Range battery, and $81,395 for the AT4 trim with the Extended Range battery. Drivers who want the best range will have to pay at least $91,695 for a truck equipped with the Max Range battery pack.
Production of the 2026 GMC Sierra EV will once again take place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Detroit, Michigan, while the GM BT1 platform will once again serve as the vehicle underpinnings.
