The 2026 GMC Hummer EV has debuted in Canada, largely mirroring the updated version of the electric supertruck in the United States. Other than a few minor things, like the unavailability of the GM Energy PowerShift Charger (RPO 5AV) and the different spelling of “Carbon Fibre Edition,” the Canadian spec of the GMC Hummer EV is very similar to the USDM version.
“The refreshed Hummer EV enhances an already amazing vehicle with new software innovations and forward-thinking design,” said Al Oppenheiser, GMC Hummer EV chief engineer. “From the start, we aimed to provide Hummer EV owners over-the-air software updates. All 2026 Hummer EV owners will have access to our latest software going forward, allowing new features to be introduced throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.”
The Carbon Fibre Edition is essentially an option package for the Hummer EV 3X with either the Pickup or SUV body. With the Pickup, it comes standard with the 24-module battery, enabling it to be the quickest-accelerating GMC model of all time launching from a standstill to 60 mph (96 km/h) in only 2.8 seconds. Other unique touches include Magnus Gray Matte paint, unique 22-inch carbon black wheels with all-terrain tires (the SUV version gets a fifth one as a spare), carbon inserts in the hood, mirror caps, and skid plate, and black emblems.
As for that GM Energy PowerShift Charger that you can’t get in Canada, it’s what enables V2H (vehicle-to-home) charging in the U.S. spec model, as this feature is unavailable in Canada for the time being. While the Canadian version does have enhanced Super Cruise capability, it doesn’t appear to have Google Maps integration as the U.S. version does.
To recap, a few other updates that come with every 2026 GMC Hummer EV on both sides of the border include three new interior colors (Velocity Ember, Granite Drift, and Stealth Eclipse), three new paint options (Magnus Gray Matte, Coastal Dune, and Auburn Matte), and King Crab mode.
King Crab mode is designed to enhance the all-electric rig’s maneuverability off the pavement, utilizing the Hummer’s rear-steer system. It enables the Hummer EV’s rear wheels to turn “significantly faster” than the front wheels. This results in increased agility, allowing the Hummer EV to navigate tight spaces more easily and even tackle challenging rock-crawling terrain. It’s standard on the 2X and 3X trims for the 2026 Hummer EV Pickup and SUV, and it will be available as an over-the-air (OTA) software update on earlier models later this year.
The 2026 GMC Hummer EV will be available in Canada later this summer. Pricing and range details will be confirmed closer to launch.
