The 2026 GMC Hummer EV is arriving as the fifth model year for the Pickup and the third for the SUV. The two variants have very similar interiors, including the same infotainment system. Now, for 2026, these mighty EVs feature a new infotainment system (RPO code IVE). There’s good news and bad news that comes along with this update.
At first glance, the new infotainment system doesn’t seem that different from the old one (IOK). It still uses a 13.4-inch touchscreen display and integrates a Google built-in interface. However, it no longer comes with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, neither wired nor wireless. GM has been phasing out these smartphone connectivity features from its EVs, and the Hummer is the latest one to drop them.
However, the good news is that the new system features 5G connectivity. That means faster and more reliable connectivity for drivers who opt for the in-car Wi-Fi subscription. If you have passengers who use in-car Wi-Fi for their own devices, they’ll be grateful for this upgrade.
The Bose 14-speaker premium surround sound system with Centerpoint technology (UWS) is unchanged, while SiriusXM with 360L (U2K) is still standard with a trial subscription. A pre-paid 3-year SiriusXM package (R6P) can be optioned for $299 while ordering the vehicle.
The start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV is scheduled for July 14th, 2025. Dealers will be able to submit orders starting on May 30th.
Pricing for the 2026 models is forthcoming, but we expect it to be similar to the 2025 models. The 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV both start at $98,845 for the base 2X trim and $106,945 for the 3X trim.
For motivation, the Hummer EV 2X models equip a pair of GM drive motors, while the 3X trims are powered by three motors. A 20-module battery pack utilizing GM battery technology is standard across the board, and the Pickup in the 3X trim is available with a 24-module battery pack.
For the 2026 model year, the GMC Hummer EV will continue to use the GM BT1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.
Comments
More losing with mediocrity.
Agreed.
Instead of making the ownership experience great with convenience features that customers are familiar with, it is really annoying that GM ‘nickles and dimes’ their customers who just spent many thousands of dollars.
Imagine paying 100k not to have apple car play as option . Wow
Every Tesla and Rivian ever made.
Traditional CarPlay is obsoleted tech now (except for the new CarPlay Ultra or 2.0). Modern cars offers highly integrated iPad like experience which should no longer need one to project the phone screen. Today’s car screen is not that dumb anymore.
I expect this comment will receive many downvotes, but it doesn’t change the fact as stated above.
They may offer many of the same features, but the experience is anything other than “iPad like”. Plus, they don’t offer the integration with the services that I prefer. Sure, I can stream my music via bluetooth connection, but that can be clunky. I listen to podcasts a lot in the car. I prefer to use Overcast as my podcast client. That doesn’t exist in the GM system. I use an app on roadtrips called iExit that tells me what services are available at the upcoming exists off of Interstates. That doesn’t exist in GM’s system either. I could go on.
Ultimately, this has nothing to do with the “experience”. This is GM wanting to sell you more subscriptions, gather more data about you and lock you into their system.
Needs the diesel to stay competitive.
I guess I’m an old guy. I don’t like a tacked on computer screen taking over the dash. It’s just a lot of electrical items that will have problems and cost a lot to fix since everything runs through a computer. My Silverado electric seat control made my diver’s side window go down…..because everything goes through a computer.
Over complicated, overpriced, failure prone, and impossible to repair, not to mention terrible software. Whatever happened to reliability?
Shame on GM for forcing the consumer to subscribe to their service and pay yet another subscription cost when everything I need is on my phone.
More likely “shame on Mary”. That’s just her greed for more. The captain steers the ship.
Supercruise is worth getting the connection. I wouldn’t buy a car without it.
i really have NO interest in any automobile without CarPlay. It is just no going to happen. That is how you lose customers.. and i have yukon and truck both gmcs.. geeze.
This move that GM is making is not that Apple car play is inferior, Mary can’t make extra profit from you. Before you know it the total of subscriptions that they are going to sell you will be as much as a car payment.
Memo to gm geniuses: People actually like Apple CarPlay.
I am very interested in knowing what computer the Hummer EV has for 2026. It is time for reviewers and reporters like GMAuthority to talk about that but nobody cares as if that is not important nowadays. I am a software engineer and like to know what is driving my car. I know GM was in talks to use the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon RIDE platform for the Escalade with its beautiful big infotainment screen, but have no idea about what GM did/will do with the hummer 2026. DOES ANYBODY KNOW? CAN GM AUTHORITY HELPS US KNOW?
Maybe they went with NVIDIA?
Why don’t you get a job there?
Just drove one. So sad to give up CarPlay reading text messages and enabling voice replies. Sad GM thinks it is safer to type while driving,
If that’s really the case, they’ll get sued, probably both individually and class action, just as soon as a few people wreck their cars f’ing around with the infotainment center…
The native Google operating system reads your SMS messages the same if not better then CarPlay so thats completely false.
Why don’t you pay attention to driving? Everyone is sick of high insurance rates.
No, Apple CarPlay is a dealbreaker for me.
No navigation, no adjustable pedals, no android auto/car play, and they add subscriptions to new car prices even though you don’t want them.
This sounds a lot like buying a smart TV. In a few years, updates and support could go away, and the smart infotainment system won’t be so smart. Using CarPlay or Android Auto on upgradable and updatable smart phones keeps the tech fresh.
why are all the negative comments with many thumbs up suddenly set back to zero? Could be they don’t want others to see our reactions. They have blocked my email address from commenting.
