2026 Chevy Trax To Get These Two New Paint Colors

General Motors introduced the second-generation Chevy Trax for the 2024 model year, and with it, a total rework for its entry-level subcompact crossover. After receiving several important updates for the 2025 model year, the latest 2026 Chevy Trax is now poised to debut only a few minor changes compared to 2025. Among the changes is the addition of two new exterior paint colors.

The 2026 Chevy Trax introduces a few new exterior colors.

For the 2026 model year, the Trax will now offer Apex Red (paint code GAS) and White Sands (paint code G42) as two new exterior color options. Images of the Trax with the new colors are currently unavailable, but the 2026 Trailblazer also offers them, shown below. These two new hues will indirectly replace Crimson Metallic (paint code GFM) and Nitro Yellow Metallic (paint code GHS), both of which were introduced at the launch of the second-generation Trax for 2024.

As covered previously, the 2025 Chevy Trax also introduced a few new exterior color options, namely Cypress Gray (paint code GBD) and Marina Blue Metallic (paint code GKN). According to GM Authority sources, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Chevy Trax is currently scheduled for July 7th, 2025, with dealer order banks set to open on May 15th, 2025. As always, these dates remain tentative and subject to change.

Mechanically, the 2026 Chevy Trax is expected to carry over the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP gasoline engine introduced for the 2025 model year. Compared to the previous turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH engine used in the 2024 model, the LBP supports E85 fuel compatibility, while also maintaining the same output ratings at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque.

As a reminder, the second-generation Chevy Trax continues to ride on GM’s VSS-F vehicle platform and is assembled at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea.

Given the Trax is assembled in South Korea, it will likely be subject to a 25-percent tariff implemented by the Trump administration. The Trax is one of a quartet of affordable vehicles known internally as the “GM Korea Four,” which are considered to be particularly vulnerable to potential tariffs.

  1. 2 new colors and I prefer the ones being replaced. What about a power seat option on the LT? Huh? And a power liftgate on the 2RS and Activ? Huh? But gotta fuss with colors…GM, really.

  2. At least you can get power seat now on the 2RS!

  3. Apex Red is available in all four versions of the 2026 Trailblazer, but White Sands is only available on the RS and ACTIV variants. Color availability will likely be similar for the 2026 Trax. Personally I loved the Nitro Yellow Metallic because it wasn’t just another boring shade of grey.

  4. Up there in Canada they won’t be affected by any of the Made in USA ta riffs. Good on Canada
