Chevrolet is expanding the all-electric Chevy Silverado EV lineup with the debut of the new 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss, offering additional off-road capability and unique aesthetic touches. The new Silverado EV Trail Boss joins Trail Boss variants of the ICE-based Silverado and Colorado, and starts at just over $72,000. Look for it to roll out this summer.
First and foremost, the new 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss is equipped with a two-inch lift, which combos with a set of 35-inch all-terrain tires to give the off-roader a 24-percent boost in ground clearance compared to the standard Silverado EV. The 35-inch tires are wrapped around unique 18-inch wheels. Other unique suspension items include a specially tuned coil suspension and hydraulic rebound control for enhanced control over rough terrain.
The new Silverado EV Trail Boss also features high-tech items like the trim-exclusive Terrain mode, which provides sharper four-wheel steering for improved low-speed control. There’s also Sidewinder mode, which allows the truck to turn the front and rear wheels in the same direction to “crab walk” diagonally, similar to the GMC Hummer EV.
Customers will have two battery pack configurations to choose from, with the range-topping Max Range battery providing an estimated 478 miles between plugs, priced at $72,095. The Silverado EV Trail Boss is also available with an Extended Range battery pack providing an estimated 410 miles, priced at $88,695. Both prices include $2,095 for destination. Dual electric motors provide electronic 4WD and up to 725 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque, as well as a max towing capacity of 12,500 pounds towing capacity and a 2,100-pound payload rating.
Visually, the Silverado EV Trail Boss stands out thanks to its high-approach front bumper, red tow hooks, exclusive interior elements, and Trail Boss-specific badging. It also includes auxiliary switches, making it easier for owners to install off-road accessories such as light bars or winches. Customers are also offered Super Cruise with towing, while the infotainment is handled by a 17.7-inch diagonal center screen and 11-inch diagonal driver information center.
A total of three trims will launch the 2026-model-year Chevy Silverado EV, including Work Truck (WT), LT, and Trail Boss. All trims, including the Trail Boss, will be built at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan and ride on the GM BT1 platform. Production is currently expected to begin later this month (more on that in a follow-up article later).

Is this correct? The higher range have a lower price point than the lower range model?
Also, if the Silverado EV TrailBoss is getting 478 miles of range, that is impressive!
They got it backwards LOL
Needs the diesel to stay competitive.
That thing is hideously ugly!! The RST is so much better looking. No one will take it off road….or should I say very very very very very very few will take it off road…..if they do, they will carry a generator, which in turn is run by WHAT again?????? Ya, gas.
No Hummer EV owner has taken a generator with them off road. It has enough range that any Off-Road parks and wilderness zones are in range of populations for charging.
This will be another showroom dust collector.
They’re still sitting on 24s that they can’t give away! GM needs some new management!
The problem is, as far as GM is concerned, GM sold the unit when it invoiced the dealer. Now it’s the dealers’ problem. I personally know dealers who have lost $20k on selling the Omega Edition Hummers.
Looks like an updated Avalanche truck, no thanks Kemosabe.
Make GM Great Again
They should focus on a twin turbo V6 for the ZR2’S Colorado
That front end in red looks like a truck version of Lightning McQueen! LOL
Barra sent a email to all GM management to lobby Senators to repeal the allowance given to CA and 11 other states to establish emissions requirements more strict than the Fed Srandard. Newsom used this “allowance” permission to pass a CA law banning the sale of all ICE in CA starting 2035. The EV market has not just stopped growing, it’s back to the 7% level it was at almost a decade ago. Many Cad dealers are still sitting on new 2023 AND 2024 Lyriqs. Now 12 Blue states have adopted the CA 2035 law that us NOT supported by market demand. The volumes of those states do not represent enough units for EV models to be profitable. Having previously jumped onto the CA EV movement, woke Mary Barra is now caught between a rock and a hard place.
The problem with lying is that the internet makes it easy to fact check you. EV sales, and more specifically, GM EV sales, are up significantly year over year.
The statement reads 7% of the total EV market. I did your easy fact check and it says 8%.
This turd with all of its weight, would sink in mud and get high centered faster than a rock in a pond……so senseless to even try and take this junk off-road. Ignorance
You realise that semi trucks hauling 50k lb of logs drive through muddy, rutted roads all the time, right. No, of course you don’t. The mall is as close as you get to adventure.
I guess the owners of “off-road” EV vehicles will be crying the Smokey The Bear complaining about there’s no charging stations in off-road places.
The hummer needs a huge diesel engine, then more people would definitely buy it!!! Quit with the ev nobody wants them! Quit it please, wake up gm…
