The 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 is set to debut the final model year for the current fourth-generation light-duty pickup, bringing with it only minor updates compared to the preceding 2025 model year. The first units will roll off the line this summer. Now, GM Authority has learned that the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 has been moved ahead by a few days.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of the regular production for the 2026 Chevy Silverado is now set for June 28th, 2025. Previously, production of the 2026 Silverado was scheduled for July 7th, 2025.
The first wave of production will focus on Double Cab and Crew Cab models, while Regular Cab units will hit production a week later. Dealers could start building the vehicle online and saving orders starting on May 1st, 2025, with the first orders processed on May 15th. Assembly will once again take place at three North American GM facilities, including Fort Wayne Assembly in Indiana, Silao Assembly in Guanajuato, Mexico, and Oshawa Assembly in Ontario, Canada. However, it remains uncertain whether all three locations will begin 2026 Silverado production on June 28th.
With regard to updates, the 2026 Silverado will offer two new exterior color options, namely Polar White Tricoat (color code G4J) and White Sands (color code G42), replacing Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (color code G1W) and Slate Gray Metallic (color code GNO). To note, both of the latter paint options have already been built out for the remainder of the 2025 model year.
Beyond these modest updates, the 2026 Silverado is primarily a carryover model, with a full generational overhaul set to debut for the 2027 model year. As covered before, the 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 will introduce GM’s next-generation sixth-generation Small Block V8 gasoline engine, boasting enhanced performance and a 10-percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to the current Small Block.
Additionally, the 2027 model is expected to offer a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, per GM’s strategy to reintroduce PHEV options to its North American portfolio.
The 2027 Silverado will also feature a redesigned exterior and interior, while under the skin, you’ll find the updated T1-2 platform.

The Missuses and I have been waiting to trade in the ‘09 Rondo. Hopefully we’ll get top dollar for our trade. The previous owner had it tru-coated. I have the papers in the glove box. I’ll miss that car. I took all seven of our grandchildren to Indiana Beach and then pizza ranch in that car. The misses picked up my weekly box of cherry pop tarts from the Dollar General.
Is that Spanglish you are trying to convey?
Not sure what that means but it’s completely understandable. Almost
A PHEV truck will spell the death of the EV truck.
How about GM worry about fixing their 5.3 and 6.2 DOD/AFM screw up by eliminating it before they lose to Ford and the import markets. Over a decade of a known problem and trying to ignore it won’t make it go away.
A plug in hybrid. What a stupid idea. Have it regenerate while driving and you will have an unlimited battery back up.
