2026 Chevy Equinox EV Production Start Pushed Back To This Date

The 2026 Chevy Equinox EV drops in as the third model year for Chevrolet’s entry-level electric crossover, debuting only minor updates compared to the preceding 2025 model year. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Equinox EV has been pushed back.

As covered previously, the 2026 Chevy Equinox EV was originally scheduled to roll off the line July 14th, 2025, but production will now begin on August 4th, 2025. Dealers will be able to start configuring the vehicle online and save orders on May 29th, 2025, while the first orders for the 2026 model will be processed on June 26th, 2025.

The 2026 Chevy Equinox EV will begin production in August.

As has been the case since its debut for the 2024 model year, the Equinox EV will continue to be manufactured at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

GM has steadily refined and upgraded the Equinox EV over the last few years. Notably, the 2025 model year added standard Vehicle-To-Home (V2H) capability, allowing owners to supply power to their homes using energy stored in the vehicle’s battery. To use this feature, buyers must first install the GM Energy Vehicle-to-Home Enablement Kit (separately sold). Other charging options include the PowerUp 2 11.5 kW charger (RPO code 5CH) and a NACS to CCS1 charging adapter (RPO code RYZ), the latter of which was previously only available only through GM’s mobile app.

The 2025 Equinox EV also brought a few performance improvements. Front-wheel drive units now produce 220 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque, while all-wheel-drive variants deliver 300 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque. Both configurations ride on the GM BEV3 platform.

The Chevy Equinox EV now leads GM’s charge in the electric vehicle segment, with 10,329 units sold in the first quarter of the 2025 calendar year. The Chevy Blazer EV was second in GM EV sales at 6,187 units, while the Cadillac Lyriq was third with 4,300 units. GM EV sales as a whole jumped 97 percent year-over-year during Q1, rising from 16,169 units in the first quarter of the 2024 calendar year to 31,886 units during the first quarter of the 2025 calendar year.
