2026 Chevy D-Max Prototype Spotted Testing In Colombia

Just a couple of months after the debut of the all-new 2026 Chevy D-Max in Ecuador, a prototype of Chevrolet‘s midsize pickup was spotted undergoing validation testing in Colombia.

Spy photographers from the South American country have just spotted a prototype of the new 2026 Chevy D-Max during validation tests on the streets of Colombia, specifically traveling through a city sector of the Bogotá capital. This is a clear indication that the General Motors subsidiary in that country is evaluating the capabilities of the 2026 D-Max recently introduced in the region and its possible introduction into the Colombian market.

Colombia’s Fuel Car magazine published the first spy photos of the 2026 Chevy D-Max prototype spotted during engineering tests in that country. These photos were taken with a partially camouflaged white unit on the front and cargo box to try to hide its identity. However, the same characteristic features of the Ecuadorian 2026 D-Max can be seen, which received some modifications compared to the Chevy S10 Max sold in Mexico.

Notably, this is the first time the new 2026 Chevy D-Max has been spotted undergoing validation testing in Colombia, confirming an exclusive GM Authority report published in early April regarding the imminent arrival of the new model variant to more South American markets. In fact, we specifically anticipated that Colombia is the country with the greatest potential for the arrival of the 2026 D-Max due to its demographic and economic characteristics similar to Ecuador.

In addition to GM holding the legal rights to the D-Max name in South America, Colombia is the next natural market for the new 2026 Chevy D-Max due to several key factors that distinguish it from other countries in the region. Specifically, the Colombian market shares a commercial strategy shared by Chevrolet with Ecuador, the D-Max badge is widely popular locally, and lacks the presence of the Maxus T60 – the pickup truck basis for the new model.

The spotting of the new 2026 Chevy D-Max in Colombia confirms information from sources and our analysis of GM South America’s product strategy for this model, which will expand to other markets of the automaker’s new Pacific Cluster division responsible for operations in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. The official debut of the 2026 D-Max in the Colombian market could occur later this year or early 2026.

  1. And not one word about the displacement of this diesel engine? Is it the 2.8, the 3.0 (doubtful due to room constraints), or something else??? Are they really just trying to use up old engines because they unceremoniously yanked it from the Colorado/Canyon without so much as an FU to their customers? Inquiring minds want to know.

  2. It can haul several hundred pounds of “cargo” for the drug lords.

  3. Please no comments about ‘bringing it here’. It ain’t gonna happen. GM doesn’t want to grow its market just wants to prevent potential Colorado buyers from considering a smaller option.
Let them go to the Ford Mav.
Back when the S10 was around there wasn’t any fear of going from a Silverado to the S10. The current Colorado is the size of an ’80 or ’90s Silverado.
