Officially launched in the South American country on March 19th, the new 2026 Chevy D-Max is off to a strong start as it continues to be the best-selling pickup in Ecuador.
General Motors’ Ecuadorian subsidiary has just announced that the new 2026 Chevy D-Max has had a solid sales start in the country, consolidating the nameplate’s legacy as the best-selling pickup in the local market. In fact, the Chevrolet midsize work pickup managed to top its segment registrations in Ecuador in less than two weeks on the market and closed the month of March at the top of its category.
“Our customers’ response to the arrival of the new Chevrolet D-Max has been extraordinary,” said GM Ecuador Country Manager, Oswaldo León. “Confirming that this is a model appreciated for its powerful performance, advanced safety features, and, particularly, for the rigorous preparation and calibration of the vehicle for optimal performance in all the conditions of the Ecuadorian geography,” he added.
Specifically, GM Ecuador sold a total of 400 units of the new 2026 Chevy D-Max in March – the first partial month of registrations for the new-generation model. According to the company, this initial volume was sufficient to position it as the best-selling truck in the country for the month, despite being available only during the last 10 business days of the month. GM only mentions the new model and did not indicate total sales including units of the previous D-Max.
Although it’s a very modest volume, the 2026 Chevy D-Max’s sales result in Ecuador for the month of March is a solid start for the model and demonstrates the positive reception it is receiving among Ecuadorian customers, which bodes well for the coming months. In fact, this strong performance of the 2026 D-Max allowed Chevrolet to consolidate its position as the pickup market leader with 659 units sold in the third month of the year.
The new 2026 Chevy D-Max has enjoyed a solid sales start in Ecuador, continuing the long legacy of the highly popular nameplate in that country, where the truck has been the best-selling model not only in its segment, but in the entire automotive industry for the past six consecutive years. The new 2026 D-Max arrives in the Ecuadorian market imported from China, replacing the previous model produced at the GM OBB plant in Quito, which closed in September.
