2025 Corvette Drive Modes Explained

Adding the powerful C8 ZR1 to the familiar lineup of the Stingray, the Z06 and the E-Ray, the 2025 Corvette introduces several more modest updates as well for the generation’s sixth model year. The vehicle also gets updated pricing and a boosted destination freight charge.

As might be expected from a higher-end GM vehicle in the current year, the 2025 Corvette also features an assortment of drive modes to tailor performance to current driving.

The Chevy Corvette is equipped with Driver Mode Control or DMC to make selection of different drive modes easy for the operator. Among the various modes for the 2025 Corvette are Weather, Tour, Sport, Track, My Mode, Z Mode, and the E-Ray exclusive Charge+, Shuttle and Stealth modes.

For most Drive Modes, a turning selector knob on the center console is the control used for selection and activation. Z Mode is accessed via the Z Mode button the steering wheel’s left spoke located next to the central horn boss. Each mode has a unique indicator that appears on the instrument cluster while the mode is active.

Here’s a rundown of all the available modes, summarized in the table presented below.

Weather Mode

Indicated on the instrument cluster by a snowflake and raindrop symbol, Weather Mode helps with traction on slippery asphalt by controlling wheel speed. It should not be used on dry pavement, where it will reduce acceleration. It’s also not intended to be used to free the Vette if it gets bogged or stuck in snow, mud, and so on.

Tour Mode

Indicated on the instrument cluster as a section of roadway with a dashed median line, Tour Mode offers a “smooth, soft ride” for ordinary driving. Handling is good but not outstanding to provide good comfort levels as well. This is the default Drive Mode for the 2025 Corvette.

Sport Mode

Handling and control are enhanced by Sport Mode, which is intended for the more white-knuckle, exciting moments of driving. Indicated by a gauge and squiggly road icon, Sport Mode gives you improved steering response for precise control and downshifts for better handling during sporty driving. Cornering performance is boosted by changes to Magnetic Ride Control, if equipped. You can also use Sport Mode to enter Competitive Mode.

Track Mode

Not intended for use on normal city streets or highways, Track Mode – indicated by a racetrack icon – provides peak handling for closed track competition. The transmission and steering change for track conditions and transmission gears are lowered, boosting acceleration response and strengthening available engine braking.

Track Mode also tunes the exhaust valve, brake feel, various stability and traction technologies, and even engine sound for a track-appropriate experience. It’s also possible to engage Performance Traction Management (PTM) through Track Mode if desired.

My Mode

Intended for ordinary driving such as daily driving, cruising or long-distance trips, My Mode is indicated on the instrument cluster with an icon showing the silhouette of a human head and shoulders. Once activated, My Mode won’t default back to Tour Mode when the 2025 Corvette is shut off and restarted like most modes will.

Four different attributes of driving can be programmed while in My Mode, including Engine Sound, Suspension, Steering and Brake Feel. The table here gives a run-down of the various choices that can be assembled into a personal driving mode:

2025 Corvette My Mode Customization Options
Engine Sound Steering Suspension Brake Feel
Stealth X - - -
Tour X X X X
Sport X X X X
Track X X X X

Z Mode

Indicated, naturally enough, by a big capital Z icon on the instrument display, Z Mode is a high-performance version of My Mode that emphasizes peak handling.

Unlike My Mode, which tweaks four different characteristics to create a custom driving mode, Z Mode modifies six different parameters. These include Engine/Shift, Brake Feel, Steering, Suspension, Engine Sound, and Performance Traction Management or PTM.

A summary of Z Mode settings can be found in the chart below:

Charge+ Mode (E-Ray)

Charge+ Mode is activated using a special button present only on the E-Ray, located on the left side of the center console near the driver’s knee. This mode provides aggressive charging of the hybrid battery at the expensive of higher gasoline use, and is utilized “to prepare for maximum effort at a racetrack or Stealth mode use.”

Charge+ Mode works best at speeds higher than 35 miles per hour, and shouldn’t be left engaged for long periods.

Shuttle Mode (E-Ray)

Shuttle Mode, which shouldn’t be used for public road driving, lets you drive your 2025 Corvette E-Ray on battery power alone. The mode lasts for four to five miles maximum range and offers a top speed of 15 miles per hour. The Vette must be shut off and restarted in order to resume normal gasoline-driven propulsion.

Stealth Mode (E-Ray)

Cruising sneakily out of the garage and leaving the immediate neighborhood is enabled by Stealth Mode, with a single use possible at the start of each driving session. After a brief period operating noiselessly on battery power alone, the Chevy Corvette E-Ray will automatically activate its gasoline engine as well. This process is accompanied by a stoplight-like display of lights on the instrument panel, first red, then yellow and finally green. You shouldn’t merge into traffic until the engine is running to avoid the possibility of a crash.

As a reminder, the 2025 Corvette is motivated by different powertrain configurations based on variant. The 2025 Stingray is propelled by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 engine developing 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The E-Ray adds a front-mounted electric motor, boosting power to 655 horsepower and providing AWD. The 2025 Chevy Corvette Z06 cradles the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 cranking out 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet. Finally, the new ZR1 is powered by the twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 LT7 gasoline engine developing 1,064 horsepower and 828 pound-feet of torque.

All variants of the 2025 Corvette are underpinned by the GM Y2 platform. Production takes place exclusively at the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky.

  1. I see that the Eray has the two stealth quiet modes. It seems as the other modes are the same as years prior.
