Despite Cadillac‘s ongoing transition to an all-electric portfolio ahead of other GM brands, the Cadillac CT4 lineup of compact luxury sedans, including the 2025 Cadillac CT4 itself, the Cadillac CT4-V and the high-performance Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing continued into a sixth model year, though the nameplate is likely to be axed following the 2026 sedan.
The 2025 Cadillac CT4 offers a range of different drive modes, including some offered only in the V-series vehicles, which GM Authority is looking closely at here.
Driver Mode Control is equipped on all 2025 Cadillac CT4 variants, including the 2025 Cadillac CT4-V and the 2025 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. A mode control switch is located on the center console, to the right of the shift lever on automatic transmission vehicles just rear of the cupholder, or at the rear right corner of the shifter boot.
The mode control switch uses up and down arrows to flip through the available Drive Modes rather than separate buttons or other controls for each. The one exception is the V-Mode Switch present on V-series CT4 sedans only, which is located on the steering wheel at the 4 o’clock or 8 o’clock position relative to the central horn boss.
Tour Mode is the default mode for standard driving. This mode persists through the vehicle being switched off and later restarted. Sport Mode and the customizable My Mode are also persistent through being switched off and restarted. All other modes revert to Tour Mode the next time the vehicle is turned on.
Each mode also has a unique indicator on the instrument panel that remains on while it’s engaged. The driver can thus tell at a glance which mode their 2025 Cadillac CT4 is in once they learn to identify the icons. No icon means the vehicle is in standard Tour Mode.
Tour Mode
The default Tour Mode, which is the ordinary driving mode, has no indicator icon. GM says this CT4 mode offers a “smooth, soft ride” both on city streets and highways. It balances comfort and handling for a good driving experience.
Sport Mode
Naturally designed for sporty driving as its name suggests, Sport Mode is identified on the display by a checkered racing flag icon indicator. Entering this mode activates lower transmission gear use in order to boost acceleration response and engine braking availability. Steering is modified to improve control, while if Magnetic Ride Control is present, it will be activated in such a way as to provide better cornering.
According to the description, the 2025 Cadillac CT4 in Sport Mode will “monitor driving behaviors and automatically enable Performance Shift Features when spirited driving is detected.” Sport Mode will switch off if some time passes without “spirited driving” continuing, returning to Tour Mode.
Snow/Ice Mode
Indicated by an icon of three snowflakes, Snow/Ice Mode is intended for use on slippery, icy pavement covered in winter precipitation. It controls wheel speed to increase traction. Notably, it should not be used on dry pavement, where it will hamper acceleration, nor should it be used when the Cadillac CT4 is stuck, or in mud, sand, or other non-pavement surfaces.
Track Mode
Available only to V-Series variants of the 2025 Cadillac CT4, Track Mode is identified by a checkered flag overlaid on an oval representing a racetrack indicator on the instrument display. This mode optimizes control for the accelerator pedal during high-performance driving. It also provides peak responsiveness by adjusting Magnetic Ride Control. Performance Traction Management or PTM can be used while in this mode.
My Mode
My Mode is the customizable mode offered by the 2025 Cadillac CT4 and uses a display screen indicator that resembles a human head and shoulders in silhouette with a steering wheel. My Mode enables you to adjust the settings for four different driving characteristics of the sedan: Steering, Suspension, Brake Feel, and Engine Sound. The available My Mode settings are summarized in the following table:
Setting | Steering | Suspension | Brake Feel | Engine Sound |
---|---|---|---|---|
Tour (Default) | X | X | X | X |
Sport | X | X | X | X |
Track | X | X | X | X |
Stealth | - | - | - | X |
V-Mode
Available only on V-Series vehicles, V-Mode is identified by a large V shaped like a checkmark used as an indicator. V-Mode is a customizable mode similar to My Mode, but is used to personalize “dynamic driving” rather than everyday road driving like My Mode. It enables adjusting Steering, Suspension, Engine/Shift, Brake Feel, Engine Sound and PTM (Performance Traction Management). The following table summarizes the available settings:
Tour | Sport | Track | Snow/Ice | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Engine/Shift | Tour | Tour | Track | Snow/Ice |
Throttle Progression | Tour | Tour | Track | Snow/Ice |
Transmission Shift Mode | Tour | Sport | Track | Tour |

As a reminder, the 2025 CT4 continues to be underpinned by the GM Alpha 2 platform under the sheet metal. The sedan is produced at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.
Comment
It would be nice to see how the AWD models change their power / torque distribution in the different modes.
