The 2025 Buick Encore GX marks the sixth model year for the subcompact crossover’s first generation, bringing with it a few important updates. These include a new E85-compatible engine and a new exterior paint option. In addition, the 2025 Buick Encore GX offers expanded availability of the remote engine start feature.
The 2025 Buick Encore GX offer remote engine start (RPO code BTV) as standard across the trim level lineup, whereas previously the feature was only available via the Comfort Package (RPO code Y55). For the 2024 model year, the Comfort Package was an optional upgrade priced at $1,295, and was available for the Preferred and Sport Touring trims. Package content included (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):
- Driver 8-way power seat adjuster (A2X)
- Two-way power driver lumbar control (AL9)
- Heated driver and front passenger seats (KA1)
- Heated steering wheel (UVD)
- Front passenger flat-folding seatback (D7P)
- Rear center armrest (DA5)
- Remote vehicle starter system (BTV)
Now, with remote engine start included as standard across the trim level lineup for the 2025 model year, pricing for the Comfort Package has been reduced to $995.
In addition to greater availability for the remote engine start feature, the 2025 Buick Encore GX also debuts a new powertrain option, namely the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP engine. This new engine is compatible with E85 fuel, a blend of gasoline and ethanol, while also producing the same level of output as the 1.2L I3 LIH engine which it replaces, doling out a maximum of 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque.
The turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP engine is available exclusively for the base-level Preferred FWD variant, while the rest of the lineup cradles the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine, which carries over unchanged from the 2024 model year. The 1.3L I3 L3T engine is also available as an optional upgrade for the Preferred FWD trim.
Other updates for the 2025 Buick Encore GX include a slight revision to the exterior paint options list, with Aquamarine Blue Metallic (paint code GKN) added to the list, and Sunrise Red Metallic (paint code GMF) removed from the list.
The 2025 Buick Encore GX rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle platform, with vehicle taking place at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.
