The GM Authority Take

Buick sales grew a very healthy 39 percent during Q1 2025, with all models in the green.

The subcompact Buick Encore GX led with the highest sales volume at 20K units, and its 53 percent growth was second only to that of the subcompact Buick Envista. The Tri-Shield brand’s entry-level model posted the biggest sales gain at a slightly stronger 54 percent with 15K deliveries.

The compact Buick Envision recorded the second-biggest sales volume at 15K units, around 600 deliveries ahead of the Envista, though the Envision posted the smallest gain at 17 percent.

Finally, the large three-row, next-generation Buick Enclave moved 11K units, with a 37 percent increase in sales.

Notably, Buick is the only GM brand that does not yet offer an all-electric model in the U.S.

      1. Encore GX and Envista are made by Koreans

        1. Assembled by Koreans from Chinese parts. Buying a Buick, except the Enclave, does nothing for America anymore.

          1. Are you stupid? Every Buick bought is revenue brought into this country.

          2. There would be no Buick without captive imports. Brand only now appears to have turned the corner. The Detroit 3 will always need lower cost labor so long as foriegn automakers are allowed to operate non union factories. Supporting unionization is how Trump could help and then I’d whine about GM abroad.

S Korea is a US ally. If GM, like Toyota and VW, is to be a global company, imports affect a bad thing.
GM under Barra is like a melting ice cube getting smaller each year whether selling Opel–responsible for E2XX, D2XX and variants like C1–killing Holden, and failing to fully electrify Buick in China.
I love union jobs. I’m also realistic regarding GM maintaining a global footprint, utilizing S Korean free trade accord especially if they truly plan to re-enter Europe. Non unionized US auto plants are virtually useless! States offer tax free status but must pay large infrastructure costs for low paying jobs.

  2. A fine achievement by Buick, and I hope that GM adjusts their production locations so that Buick won’t suffer unnecessarily from the tariffs.

      1. Add another $10k to the price if it had to be built here. American workers would never work for the pay that Chinese or Korean workers do. Thats a fact. That is why the majority of the jobs were sent there. We are a cost driven society. The global market allows for these lower cost options to be available. The avg Chinese/Korean auto factory worker earns approximately $500/ month. What American would work that same factory job for even double or triple that amount?
Beyond that, Americans are looking for high paying jobs, not lower wage blue collar factory work like they were decades ago. Tech, robotics, AI is the future of the job market.
You old school, “get your hands dirty” workers will be more and more obsolete moving forward. You all being obstinate and closed minded will not stop progress. It’ll simply keep you bitter. And the rest of us have to deal with you.

        1. Don’t worry. The “tech, robotics AI” jobs are being fast tracked to low-wage countries as well. Once a country like China learns to build something, the design and engineering will soon follow. Do you think all the white collar jobs Barra cut in the US and the work simply disappeared? No they are now being done in India and China for $9 an hour.

    3. That statement in itself is dumb. Boomers are the smartest while the lazy youngins sit around playing games and playing on their phones all day. Give me a break. I got a great car and a great price. Couldn’t ask for more. My Buick on court is cool, and it’s got lots of compliments as well. So STFU baby.

  5. We just got a Encore GX ST Nice car and the GAS 3 cylinder is very responsive with the 9 speed transmission. It is more responsive than the 2022 Encore with the 4 cylinder.

  6. A little bit surprised the Envision is doing so well. Our two nearest dealers are slapping some serious cash on the hoods to try to move them. Most of their inventory has $6,000 off plus manufacturer incentives of $1,000.

  7. I got a new Buick encore and I love it! I’ve priced other SUVs and gone on test drives but this one was the nicest and most luxurious. I made a wise choice and got a good price!👍♥️

  8. Buick has finally turned a corner attracting younger buyers who typically purchase imports but tariffs could kill the brand. GM lacks capacity to relocate Encore GX, Envista, Trax and Trailblazer production stateside. Same for mid cycle Envision.
Buick is a niche brand that could now grow (compete with both Chevy and Cadillac) like Hyandai and Kia do so with minimal sales cannibalization. No one climbs Sloan’s GM ladder anymore. There are few GM shoppers anymore with most buyers focus on model and brand.
Buick, with hybrids and EVs from China (or rebadged from Chevrolet) could do very well in Europe. Would be great if GM could repurchase Opel/Vauxhall to sell Buicks from a struggling Stellantis.
