General Motors has officially revealed the upcoming 2026 Chevy Captiva EV in Brazil, after GM Authority exclusively reported on the electric crossover being spotted in South America.
The automaker’s South American subsidiary revealed the upcoming 2026 Chevy Captiva EV just as the first batch of production units arrived in Brazil to complete the model’s final validation process in the country, officially confirming the existence of Chevrolet’s all-new electric crossover and its imminent commercialization in the region. As such, the new Captiva EV is in the final stages of the testing process for its local launch.
“Chevrolet has announced yet another new product. It is the Captiva EV, a mid-size electric SUV that will complement the brand’s portfolio here,” said Vice President of GM South America, Fabio Rua. “The Captiva EV is a strategic product within Chevrolet’s global electric vehicle line and will be launched in Brazil by the end of the year,” he added.
In fact, the company’s top executive personally attended the unloading of the upcoming 2026 Chevy Captiva EV at a port in Brazil to make the announcement and officially launch the model’s marketing campaign throughout South America. In this regard, Rua confirmed that the Captiva EV will gradually roll out to all the region’s major markets as a global product that will complement the Bowtie brand’s portfolio.
Based on the all-electric version of the Wuling Starlight S, the all-new 2026 Chevy Captiva EV is a midsize crossover that promises to offer a competitive value proposition for a new generation of customers seeking a spacious family car with a striking design, advanced technologies, and the reliability of the Chevrolet brand. It will position itself right in the middle of the new Chevy Equinox EV and the brand-new entry-level Chevy Spark EUV.

The upcoming 2026 Chevy Captiva EV will officially debut in the coming months and go on sale in Brazil later this year, when it is also slated to begin its introduction in other South American countries such as Colombia, where it was first spotted uncovered. GM South America confirmed that the Captiva EV is one of the brand’s five launches scheduled for this year in the Amazonian country, where it will arrive imported from China.

prefer the name Wuling Star Light, Chevrolet Captiva is a horrible name. it is chinese engineering and design so should have to be kept Wuling Star Light for Brasil too, indeed there is nothing brazilian in this car, GM more and more Chinese
More garbage that isn’t necessary.
GM could make more $$ if they put a Cadillac grille in front and call the vehicle Cimmoron. Slotted below Optica as the entry model.
no it is a more chinese Buick instead
do not understand why disembarked in Vitoria, not in Santos… cars have to go to a deposit before being sold and that means Santos to SJC would be closer
An EV with regular door handles; imagine that.
Looks pretty good with nice clean lines and a simple and pleasing front fascia. I like the shade of blue on the one, too bad GM’s blues in the US aren’t so good.
People are really stpid, very stuid here…ALL the brands around the world want to sell millions in China. But people here thinking that there should be no reciprocity. Of course China arrived at the top of automotive industrie…..accept this.
Do these models for South America even pass safety standards in the US? Theirs too lax or ours too strong as a life is a life.
