While the 2024 model year brought the debut of the second-generation crossover, the subsequent 2025 Chevy Trax also introduces a number of important updates. Among the most notable of these are technology upgrades, a new engine with E85 fuel compatibility, and a few changes to the exterior paint lineup. Now, GM Authority has learned that two of the 2025 Chevy Trax paint options are no longer available to order.
The 2025 Chevy Trax is no longer available to order in Crimson Metallic (paint code GFM) or Nitro Yellow Metallic (paint code GHS), and won’t return for the 2026 model year. Buyers interested in either of these two hues will need to search dealer inventories or track in-transit units.
Crimson Metallic was previously available across all Chevy Trax trim levels, with the exception of Activ. Nitro Yellow Metallic was offered as one of the two premium paint options, priced at an additional $395, and previously offered on 1RS, 2RS, and Activ trims, but not LS or LT.
As it stands, the 2025 Chevy Trax paint lineup is now limited to the following six options for ordering:
- Cacti Green
- Cypress Gray
- Marina Blue Metallic
- Mosaic Black Metallic
- Summit White
- Sterling Gray Metallic
Note that each of these colors is offered at no extra charge, with the exception of Marina Blue Metallic (color code GKN), which, like Nitro Yellow Metallic, is priced at $395.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of regular production for the 2026 Chevy Trax is currently set to kick off on July 7th, 2025, with dealer orders opening on May 15th. Note that these dates remain subject to change.
Critically, the 2025 Trax is still highly competitive for its segment, despite a modest price increase across the trim level cadence. As GM Authority covered previously, the base 1LS now starts at $21,795 (including destination freight charge), or $300 more than was the case previously, while the 1RS, 1LT, 2RS, and Activ trims each see a $400 increase, with pricing reaching $25,795 for the top-tier 2RS and Activ.
Under the hood, the 2025 cradles the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP gasoline engine, which, unlike the 1.2L I3 LIH engine equipped prior to the 2025 model year, supports E85 fuel. Power output remains unchanged at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The second-generation Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set and is assembled at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea.

Sadly, nothing new here in GM offering less for more $$$. At the very least two new colors should have replaced the Trax’s Crimson Red and Nitro Yellow. Personally Nitro Yellow Metallic is my favorite color.
I just saw one of these in yellow on my way to work this morning. I liked it.
as usual, if you want White, Black or Gray, GM has it.
They stopped Cayenne Orange after 2024. Another good color eliminated. I normally like Marina Blue, but not sure it works on the Trax?
So glad I got my 2025 2RS Trax in crimson metallic a month ago. I don’t understand why crimson metallic would be discontinued and that ugly green would remain.
