Seven months after The Durant Guild inaugurated its first Experience Center open in Shanghai, GM’s new imported vehicle division has just announced the opening of new stores and the start of deliveries in China.
The automaker’s premium import and lifestyle platform in China has announced the opening of new state-of-the-art Experience Centers in major cities across the country, as well as the formal start of deliveries of the first vehicles to customers. The official store opening event was held on March 28th at the all-new The Durant Guild Experience Center Pudong, in Shanghai’s financial district.
“The opening of new Experience Centers marks a key milestone in our expansion in China and the beginning of a deeper connection with our customers,” said President of The Durant Guild, Jim Campbell. “2025 is the year of deliveries for The Durant Guild, and to bring our iconic products closer to clients across China. We look forward to deepening this connection expanding our service network, enhancing engagement, and building a comprehensive ownership experience,” he added.
GM’s new The Durant Guild Experience Centers expand its newest business arm’s presence in the Chinese market, dedicated to importing iconic, niche vehicles made in the United States that inaugurate a new category at the top end of the world’s largest automotive market. Sales begin with the refreshed 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 GMC Yukon as the first full-size SUVs for the Asian country.
To date, The Durant Guild has opened seven additional Experience Centers in addition to its main headquarters and now has a presence in major Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Shenyang, and Xi’an. Each features state-of-the-art facility that combines a showroom with dedicated delivery and after-sales service areas, offering an immersive experience for customers.
The Durant Guild expansion will continue this year with the opening of more Experience Centers in other cities across the country, such as Jinan and Suzhou, as part of a long-term strategy that seeks to improve accessibility and convenience for customers nationwide and allow them to explore personalized services. The division also plans to introduce new exclusive vehicles to diversify its unique product portfolio.

Big oof. Couldn’t have come at an absolutely worse time.
Tariffs. Also, William C. Durant is not exactly viewed as a business genius. Alfred P. Sloan salvaged the corporation he cobbled together.
Another stupid Mary liberal idea. Just stupid. Why not build affordable cars here. Do the parking lots aren’t filled with Kia’s and Toyota.
I suppose the Hanoi Jane edition will follow.
because these are probably insane profit margins on vehicles they are making hundreds of thousands of for the US market anyways. Also UAW labor is too expensive to compete with non US labor for cheap cars
The parking lots here are filled with Toyotas and Kia’s not because of the Mary Berra but because of MALE CEO’s such as Reuss and Smith. Exhibit #1 my ‘97 Grand Am. Even the wipers crapped out. I was laughed at when I bought that car. They were right. Never again a GM.
What amazing decision-making and timing by General Motors. Does anyone remember that they build trucks for the Nazis during WWII?
China is not Nazi Germany. They are a dictatorship and authoritarian. So are Musk and Trump. They are blackmailing lawyers by taking their practices and extorting universities who don’t fall in line. Sounds Chinese to me.
Think you should direct your concerns to Mercedes and BMW.
The plant in Germany was under Nazi control. If that is what you think “building trucks for the Nazi’s” means.
More worried about China than dropping market share as they kill more and more models to Japanese and South Korean companies.
