Revised Buick Enclave Receives IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award

Following its recent revision the 2025 Buick Enclave achieved a Top Safety Pick+ (Top Safety Pick Plus) rating in the 2025 Top Safety Pick Awards of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or IIHS, a recognition the Enclave didn’t previously earn.

According to the IIHS the 2025 Buick Enclave is one of four models that got a belated Top Safety Pick or Pick+ designation from the organization after improvements were made to the 2025 model year’s safety performance.

The Buick Enclave gained qualification as a Top Safety Pick+ because its headlight performance was improved starting in January 2025. Vehicles from the Enclave’s 2025 model year manufactured prior to that date still don’t have the better headlights and therefore aren’t included in the Top Safety Pick+ category, potential buyers should note.

The 2025 Buick Enclave now has Good ratings across the board for IIHS safety measures, including small front overlap crash, updated moderate front overlap crash, updated side crash, headlights and seat belt reminders testing. The one exception is “front crash prevention: pedestrian,” which is now Acceptable rather than the previous Marginal rating.

Other models that got upgraded to Top Safety Pick+ vehicles included the 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron and the 2025 Nissan Armada large SUV. The 2025 GMC Acadia also became a Top Safety Pick because of its revised headlights rather than remaining merely “Acceptable” as before.

The two GM models join The General’s existing 2025 Top Safety Pick, the 2025 Chevy Traverse – the second model year of the heavily reworked and improved third-generation Bow Tie crossover nameplate. The Traverse offers good protection to its occupants in various seating rows along with decent accident avoidance.

As a reminder, the third-gen exterior overhaul of the 2025 Buick Enclave includes new designs for the grille, front fascia, and rear fascia. The driver and front seat passenger can make use of the new 30-inch display that spotlights a significant refresh to the cockpit. Alongside tech like the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto the 2025 Enclave gets safety technology such as Blind Zone Steering Assist, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Departure Warning.

One powerplant is fitted to all trims and ousts the previous V6 engine offering: the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine developing 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. The inline-four engine is mated to the GM eight-speed automatic transmission for cog swaps, while FWD and AWD are available.

The 2025 Enclave, though it introduces a new generation, rides on the GM C1 platform used for the outgoing second-gen crossover. Production takes place at the GM Lansing Township plant in Michigan.

  1. Good job Buick, for the improvement made with the Enclave!

  2. I am glad to see Buick improve the Headlights of the Enclave. My 2023 Enclave Avenir is awful driving in the nighttime or low light hours. I am sorry I did not know this when I leased my vehicle. A flashlight taped to the hood would be an improvement. My Cadillac XT6 was much better. Another example of the ignorance of design and R & D at GM; sad.
