Ram Truck Planning 25 Announcements In The Next 18 Months

Amid a leadership shakeup at Stellantis, Tim Kuniskis returned earlier this year as the Ram CEO after a brief retirement. He’s since expressed interest in finally bringing a midsize pickup to the brand’s North American lineup, and there’s a rumor going around that a TRX with a supercharged V8 is coming back. Now, Kuniskis is making the bold announcement that 25 product announcements from the truck brand are planned within the next 18 months.

“Four months ago, I returned to the Ram brand with a clear mission: to build exciting trucks,” Kuniskis said in a LinkedIn post. “Since then, we have been shaping the next evolution of Ram – a bold new chapter that honors the legacy of the brand while redefining its future. There are 25 product announcements planned within the next 18 months, and it all starts on June 8th.
I’m proud to be back, proud to be a part of this team, and more determined than ever to show the world… nothing stops Ram.”

It’s very unlikely that the 25 product announcements Kuniskis is teasing will be 25 unique new models. They’ll likely include new or resurrected variants in the Ram 1500 and HD lineups, special editions, new engine offerings (possibly with eight cylinders), and maybe even new commercial offerings like an updated ProMaster City.

We’re not sure what Ram will announce on June 8th, but either confirmation of a midsize truck or the return of the TRX seems the most likely outcome. The Stellantis Belvidere plant in Illinois has been dormant since the Jeep Cherokee was discontinued in 2023, but it was confirmed in January that it will be the production site of a future midsize Ram pickup.

Although a midsize Ram seems like a natural rival to GM’s Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon, we’ve previously speculated that it could be an Americanized version of the Rampage, which is currently marketed in South America. The Rampage is a unibody, all-wheel-drive, four-door truck powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 GME shared with the Jeep Wrangler. It’s similar in size to the compact Ford Maverick.

The TRX initially had no direct GM rival, and it still won’t if it comes back. With a 702-horsepower supercharged V8 under the hood, the TRX went toe-to-toe with the Ford F-150 Raptor R. Meanwhile, we continue awaiting a proper Raptor rival from GM.

  1. Lowercase gm doesn’t seem interested in a TRX/Raptor R rival. They are into Karenmoble EV crossovers.

    1. Waste of time and money. They sell in tiny numbers.

      1. TRXs seem to be second to Raptors here in Qatar. I am not sure why, but the Raptor has been sold here longer than the TRX…

The HEMI might help RAM sell here in Qatar.
They were not really the most common truck because their starting price was expensive and HEMIs generally do not tolerate neglect in extreme hot weather well, so I have heard my fair share of horror stories and bad engines+ service center horro stories (although Libya seems to use RAMs for work to an extent), but generally most Expats and Locals here in Qatar tend to link Dodge with muscle power and the iconic roar of the V8….

The Hurricane versions haven’t got the best response, and the older Ram V8s seem to be preferred in Qatar, and there are more of them than the SST H.O and similar…

Also the SST H.O does not make sense, as although fuel economy of RAMs are terrible, gas is fairly affordable here in Qatar, which I also think why many prefer older V8 powered RAMs and/or are keeping theirs and not upgrading to the SSTs…

      2. The point of these models is to generate brand interest, and they’re successful at that. GM? Not so much.

Ford’s Raptor and Tremor lines are interesting and fun.

  2. Don’t get excited. Most will be the typical special editions of existing models. That shouldn’t even be considered “new models”.

  6. I can’t wait until my Canyon is paid off! Then it’s goodbye GM, hello RAM! No more of GM’s shoddy workmanship, no more Karen EV cars and best of all, no more Mary!

    1. FCA has issues too..EVERYTHING HAS ISSUES. You still run a chance of getting a lemon, whether small or big. This is what I say usually to those that are lemon lawing or trading their cars (I can understand if your Canyon gave you 1001 electrical issues or problems (+ the roof denting issues and bad dealers not helping)…they seem to be off to a rough start)).

And let me be straight. I DON’T LIKE MS MARY EITHER. I am sure that by the time the 6.2 hand grenades are recalled, she will be gone sooner or later simply due to the massive PR damage it caused….

RAM V8s have similar lifter issues, and the problem is that it is a lot more fatal when it happens as it can take out the engine (of course the 6.2 bearing issue is worse since it doesn’t happen without warning). Exhaust manifold issues are common more with RAM V8s, though it can affect Vortec and Ecotec V8s as well.
Go ahead anyways if you want to get a RAM. Don’t expect it to be trouble free.

I CLEARLY STATED THAT I DONT LIKE MS MARY.
I ALSO SAID that EVERY TRUCK HAS ITS PROBLEMS.

        1. So you automatically expect up votes just for the statement that you don’t like Mary. (written with upper case).
Maybe you should have written “brainless Mary” as one idiot did it a few days ago and watch your upvotes grow.

  7. Hey Mary B., not bad getting almost 30 million dollars this year for ruining a historical corporation that use to give consumers what they wanted in a vehicle.

    1. You know, if it were not for Mr Duncan Aldred and Mr Mark Reuss , she would have gone further.

The 6.2 hand grenades I am sure will be a nail in the coffin.
I don’t think she will stay for another decade.

Also, you can always boycott new and get used. Buying another brand also carries its own risks.

        1. I doubt she will stay that long.
By that stage they will go bankrupt again.

  8. The lack of a hybrid power train in the Colorado is a mistake in my mind, especially since gm has not responded in kind to the Ford Maverick hybrid. I personally want a small easy to maneuver vehicle, for around town, that gets good mileage and that I do not have to plug in.
Like my current Bolt for that duty, but having lived with it for 4 years, I have decided against another electric only vehicle.

  9. If the idea is to really compete again with ford and GM in truck department then they need offer mid size truck and compact truck . If the idea get small percentage buyer at high price then sure bring back the TRX . Ford is king of trucks because they have truck for every truck buyer segment.
