Poll: Should GM Build A Cadillac Escalade IQT?

Earlier in the week, we published an article declaring that that GM had unveiled a new all-electric Cadillac Escalade IQT pickup to rival the Tesla Cybertruck. While the article was part of our annual April Fools’ Day series of jokes, it was met with a surprising amount of support in the comments section. Which leads us to ask – should GM actually build a Cadillac Escalade IQT?

In case you missed it, some of our readers loved the idea of a new Cadillac Escalade IQT:

“It ain’t bad looking,” writes one commenter. “Maybe [an] IQT [wouldn’t] be such a bad idea!”

“I’d love to a Escalade pickup,” writes another. “Hope it comes with a long bed option.”

“This is plausible enough to not be an April Fools’ joke,” writes yet another. “Cadillac [has] already done a similar vehicle.”

Cadillac Escalade EXT

Of course, that last comment is likely referring to the Cadillac Escalade EXT. Offered over the course of two generations between the 2002 and 2013 model years, the Escalade EXT was essentially a more luxurious variant of the Chevy Avalanche, matching four full-size doors with a short rear bed. While the Escalade EXT wasn’t exactly a runaway sales success, the sport utility truck remains a favorite among enthusiasts and GM fans.

Indeed, our Cadillac Escalade IQT looks to capture some of that spirit, with the roofline plunging down at the C-pillar to meet a short pickup bed section above the rear axle. The profile looks a bit like the Escalade EXT and Chevy Avalanche, and in our article, we joked that such a vehicle would offer the same luxurious amenities as the standard Escalade IQ and IQL, plus a small bed in back for added practicality. We also joked it would offer a heated cargo liner and built-in espresso machine.

Of course, something like this wouldn’t come cheap. With the Cadillac Escalade IQL starting at $132,695, we could imagine the highly niche IQT starting around the $150,000 mark. Nevertheless, for some buyers, this all-electric luxury truck might be too good to pass up.

What’s your take? Do you think GM should actually build a Cadillac Escalade IQT? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below!

        1. Only Segway thought that, not an entire industry. Notice nobody followed their lead, and now Segway just sells rebadged scooters and bikes.

  4. Yes, build and sell it! I still remember the first EXT vehicles based on the Chevy Avalanche. And Chevy should also make the Avalanche EV, and Colorado EV.

    1. Yeah… build it but with a 5-6 foot bed, like the EXT.
AND… NO EV Crap! 6.2 liter GAS ! Maybe even a “V” version.
And build another Avalanche…Gas powered. Put a 6.2 in it too.
I’d be on the waiting list
I had 2 Avalanches. Loved em.

  8. Isn’t this what the Hummer truck is already? Yes, you can charge more for the Cadillac trim over the Hummer but it would still be the same vehicle.
