Most Chevy Models Get Destination Freight Charge Increase

Vehicle prices are on the rise, and that includes the cost of shipping a new Chevy out to your local dealership.

General Motors has introduced a destination freight charge (DFC) increase across its U.S. brand lineup, and that includes several Chevrolet models – in fact, nearly every single one recently got a DFC bump. We’ve already covered the DFC increase for the 2025 Chevy Corvette and the DFC increase for the 2025 Chevy Silverado, and now, we’re digging into the rest of the Bow Tie brand’s portfolio.

Looking over the list of DFC increases for the Chevy lineup, the C8 Corvette, Silverado 1500, Silverado HD, Suburban, and Tahoe received the most significant hikes, each showing a $200 increase. Notably, these models now carry some of the highest DFCs in the entire Chevrolet portfolio, with the Silverado 1500, Silverado HD, Suburban, and Tahoe each at $2,195, and the Corvette rising to $1,895.

Meanwhile, some Chevy vehicles saw no change at all, including the BrightDrop delivery vans, Equinox, Equinox EV, Malibu, and Silverado EV, all of which maintained their previous DFC rates. The Malibu has the lowest DFC of the entire U.S. Chevy portfolio at $1,195.

On the lower end of the increase spectrum, models such as the ICE-powered Blazer, Blazer EV, Colorado, Express, Trailblazer, Traverse, and Trax each experienced a moderate $100 increase. The Trax and Trailblazer, which had the lowest freight charges previously, now see their DFCs rise to $1,395, matching the updated DFC for the ICE-based Blazer, Blazer EV, and Traverse.

Check out the table below for a more complete breakdown of DFC increases for the Chevrolet lineup:

Looking ahead, it’s likely that new tariffs announced by the Trump administration will push prices for many of these vehicles even higher.

  1. The Gouging Department at it yet again. Most of destination fees are pure profit to GM, so you get the idea.

    1. Right you are. It cost almost nothing to ship a car from South Korea to the good old U.S. of A. By boat. Are you for real?. You work for a G.M. rival company perhaps.? M

  2. What a joke. At this time many dealers are having to contract outside drivers to pick up stock units at rail yards or holding lots because GM can’t get the vehicles delivered to the dealerships in a timely manner. To add insult to injury the reimbursement amount GM is paying the dealer to pick up his own vehicle is far less than the actual cost the dealer is paying his transporter.
