Here’s How Much The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ Can Tow

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ brings a battery-electric option to Caddy’s high-end luxury SUV series following its August 2024 debut. Combining premium comfort, numerous options, and plenty of power, the Escalade IQ is also towing-capable. Here are all the details you need to know.

Looking at the basics, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ sports an all-electric powertrain centered on a 205 kWh GM battery pack. Power is sent to twin electric motors developing 680 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque in Normal Mode or 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque in Velocity Max mode.

The front and rear dual-motor setup gives the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ all-wheel drive. Range is estimated at 450 miles with the battery at maximum charge.

As can be seen from the chart, the 2025 Escalade IQ can tow a maximum of 8,000 pounds or 3,629 kilograms. This is true of all four currently available trim levels, including the Luxury 1, Sport 1, Luxury 2 and Sport 2 trims.

Notably, the following towing-related features are equipped as standard on all Escalade IQ trims (with RPO codes in parenthesis):

  • Heavy-duty trailering equipment with hitch platform, 7-wire harness and 7-way sealed connector (Z82)
  • Trailering Information Label (VSX)
  • Hitch Guidance (CTT)
  • Hitch View (PZ8)

Additionally, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ offers several optional upgrades related to towing. The Smart Trailering Package (RPO code ZL6) is a $2,470 option that can be selected on the Luxury 1 and Sport 1 trims, and is equipped as standard on the Luxury 2 and Sport 2 trim levels. It includes the following content:

  • 19.2 kW charging module (K2O)
  • Blind Zone Steering Assist with Trailering (UKW)
  • Trailer View Camera (LPO, TRO)
  • Trailering App (TRG)
  • Smart Trailer Integration Indicator (UET)
  • Integrated trailer brake controller (JL1)

Furthermore, the Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor (RPO code SUR) is a $150 LPO/dealer-installed option on all trim levels, but requires the Smart Trailering Package on Luxury 1 and Sport 1.

The General offers its usual lineup of recommendations for towing with the Escalade IQ. Towing should be avoided for the first 500 miles of driving to prevent damage to the vehicle, while 50 mph should be the top speed during the first 500 miles of towing.

Do not make full-throttle starts during this 500-mile break-in. Drive mode is useful for lighter trailers while heavy hauling is best with Tow/Haul mode. One-pedal driving can be useful, too.

GM recommends that some items of ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) tech, if present, should be deactivated, including:

Set Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Front Pedestrian Braking (FPB) to Alert absent Super Cruise. If towing a trailer, do not use Automatic Parking Assist (APA).
