We reported in November that the Cadillac XT4 would end production in January at the GM Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City. That time has now long passed, and now we have photos of what appears to be the last example that will ever be built of the compact luxury crossover in North America.
The images you see here circulated on social media and were obviously taken from inside the GM Fairfax Assembly plant. It’s the literal end of the line for the XT4. This luxury crossover’s discontinuation (along with the Chevy Malibu’s) was partially motivated by the Fairfax plan being retooled to produce the next-generation 2026 Chevy Bolt EV.
The final Cadillac XT4 is in a pretty desirable spec. For starters, it’s in the Sport trim with all-wheel drive. Optional equipment includes 20-inch Dynamic Multi-Spoke alloy wheels with Diamond Cut/Dark Android finish (RPO Q86), the Active Sport Suspension (F45), and Crystal White Tricoat paint (G1W). Add these options up and add the destination charge, and this crossover’s price is likely around the $50k mark. Like every Cadillac XT4, it’s powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine mated to the GM 9-speed automatic transmission.
The Cadillac XT4 first debuted for the 2019 model year and received a mid-cycle refresh for 2024, which only lasted for two model years. Its discontinuation marked a short lifespan for the XT4 with only one generation. Its spiritual successor is the 2025 Cadillac Optiq, the luxury brand’s smallest and most affordable electric crossover, which began deliveries shortly before the XT4 ceased production.
As for the next-generation Chevy Bolt EV that will soon be built at the Fairfax assembly plant, we expect an official unveiling this summer or fall for a 2026 model-year debut. The new Bolt will not have a clean-sheet design; it will essentially be a heavily refreshed Chevy Bolt EUV riding on the BEV2 platform, using newer battery and motor technology.
Godspeed, Cadillac XT4. You deserved better.
Minor changes compared to the refreshed 2025 model year.
Same enhancements as with the U.S.-market model.
Water is going where it's not supposed to.

Good news for Fairfax employees! There is a next vehicle coming up, and it was the best selling of all the GM EVs when discontinued! (Please disregard the naysayers with comments that hope to undermine the Fairfax assembly plant success).
yep, discontinue a car that sells and replace it with a car nobody wants, brilliant!
The last year both vehicles were on sale (2023) the Bolt moved 62,045 units and the XT4 only 22,707.
In terms of brand portfolio, the Optiq is the replacement, but we don't have a full quarter of sales to compare yet. If it is anything like the Lyriq it should be a brisk seller.
So a cheap mainstream product sold more than a more expensive luxury item. Got it. Next, let’s compare sales of cheeseburgers from the 99 cent menu to gourmet steaks.
If you want to discuss this honestly, please compare bolt sales to trax or equinox.
Yea, we want our tall Malibu back.
💯💯💯
GM needs to fire Mary Barra.
Actually the Bolt sold more than the XT4 so good move GM
At what margins?
GM isn't a niche automaker. It (including Cadillac) can support both a full ICE and EV lineup. This move is silly.
My wife had the updated XT4 and we really enjoyed it. Big upgrade from her Audi Q3. We had to upgrade the XT4 due to a growing family and ended up with a Lexus TX since the XT6 is ancient and the Vistiq, while very impressive, was outside of our budget.
Smart move. Lexus is 10X the brand Cadillac will ever be.
Too bad GM can't move the Buick Envision production to Fairfax, since they were on the same platform and share the same power train.
Good riddance.
The XT4 was subpar the minute it debuted. The Optiq is 25 times the vehicle that the XT4 was.
I do however hope that GM makes an XT4 sized BEV soon.
I always wanted to buy one, but local dealers never had the trim I wanted and wouldn't help me in getting one.
BIG mistake..LOVE my '24 XT4, as well as my 2020. It's a beautiful vehicle. Will end up keeping mine.
Look to who sits in the big chair at GM and again ask yourself why they are faltering...
Mary does not listen to her buyers does as she wants stubborn as usual
