Go Camping In The Chevy Volt With This Custom-Fit Mattress

Chevy Volt owners who occasionally (or frequently) find themselves sleeping in their plug-in hybrid have a new must-have accessory available to purchase. The enterprising enthusiasts at Voltstuff.com have come out with the unofficial VoltMattress, which is exactly what it sounds like.

The VoltMatress is available for both the first- and second-generation Chevy Volt. It fills the cargo area with the second row folded down to turn the whole space into a mattress. The foam mattress is 2.5 inches thick and separates into three pieces. When separated, you can stack up the pieces and fit them in the cargo area of the Volt behind the second row.

The listing claims that even Chevy Volt owners over six feet tall “can relax in comfort” on the VoltMattress. It appears to leave generous headroom, so you can sit up a bit while using it, but you still need to watch your head.

Voltstuff.com offers the VoltMattress for $500 for either Volt generation. Since they’re made to order, it takes an estimated two to four weeks for this custom car mattress to be delivered after you order it.

Voltstuff.com’s flagship product is the VoltShelf, a more substantial alternative to the flimsy cargo cover that originally came with the Volt. In addition to a cargo cover, it serves as a proper shelf behind the hatchback’s second-row seats. This is also available for either generation of the Chevy Volt, and it even comes in three different carpet color options to match the Volt interior colors.

The VoltShelf is so beloved that it spawned the BoltShelf for Chevy Bolt EV drivers who prefer a BEV over a PHEV, an EquinoxEVShelf for Chevy Equinox EV owners, and even a Tesla ModelYShelf.
